モミジが覆い尽くす covered with maple

空が明るいので、人間の目にはモミジは黒くしか見えません。その点、カメラは露出補正ができるので、その色を見ることができます。
人間も、意識した部分に、脳内で露出を合わせができたらよいのですが。

Maples look just black to human eyes, because of the sky is bright. In that matter, the camera can adjust the exposure so we can see the color.
It would be nice for human if the brain could adjust automatically the exposure to the conscious part.

今日は久しぶりによく晴れ、透過光でモジミが鮮烈に輝いています。

It is fine after a long absence today, and maple is shining brightly with transmitted light.

メタセコイア dawn redwood

曇りの日は、光がよくまわるので、柔らかい表現になりました。

Today is cloudy so the light reaches evenly. So, the Metasequoia's look becomes soft.

ドウダンツツジ perulatus

白壁が、よい屏風になりました。

The white wall became a good screen.

どこから from where

あれっ、どこから光が差し込むのだろう。透過光と反射光が混じっているような。

Look! Where does the light come from? It seems that transmitted light and reflected light are mixed.

蜘蛛の巣 spider web

蜘蛛の巣は、垂直に同心円状に作られると思っていました。ところが、この蜘蛛は水平に巣を作っています。効率悪くありませんか。
もしかしたら・・・、強風でこわれた巣の修復中ですか。

I think that the spider web would be made concentrically vertically. However, this spide is constructing a horizontal spider's web. Don't you think it isn't inefficient?
Maybe ... Are you repairing your web broken by a strong wind?

Even though I painted the eye blue, there's no way it resembles Modigliani's work.

自動車にガソリンを入れても動力にしかなりませんが、私達は、食べたものがエネルギーにも、体になります。体を構成する細胞は、新しいものに漸次入れ替わっています。でも、なぜか老化を避けることができません。何でも永遠に続かないですね。

Even if we put gasoline in our cars, it can only be used as power, but what we eat becomes energy and also our body. All the cells that make up our bodies gradually replaced by new one. But for some reason aging cannot be avoided. Nothing will last forever.

皇帝ダリア Tree dahlia

皇帝ダリアは、木のように背丈は高いけれど、か弱いイメージです。普通のダリアのようなエネルギッシュな存在感を感じません。

"Tree dahlia" is called  "emperor dahlia" in Japan. It is tall like a tree, but it seems weak image to me. I don't feel an energetic presence like general dahlia.

小菊 small chrysanthemum

道端に生き抜く小菊。ここには、人の情けを感じます。

A few small chrysanthemums survives on the roadside. I feel there is people gentleness around here.

イチョウの紅葉 autumn leaves of ginko

イチョウの紅葉が始まりました。手前の薔薇はウルメールムーンスターです。

Autumn leaves of the ginko tree have begun. A flower on this side is Ulmer Muenster.

さざんか sasanqua

さざんかの花をみると、童謡の「たき火」が流れてきます。子供の頃、繰り返し歌ったのでしょう。

Whenever I look at the flowers of sasanqua, I hear the nursery rhyme "bonfire."
I probably sang it repeatedly when I was a young child.

いくら近づいても逃げません。ただ、落ち着きがなく、じっとしてくれません。

No matter how close I approach you, you don't fly away. However, you keep fidgeting on the flower disappointingly.

カリンの紅葉 autumn leaves of Chinese quince

葉のいろいろな色と、幹の剥げ落ちた様子、その組み合わせが絶妙です。

The various colors of leaves and the look of exfoliated trunks, these combinations is exquisite.

床の間 tokonoma

床の間に飾られた、桔梗とヤマモミジです。

A bellflower and a maple are displayed in 'tokonoma.'
A 'tokonoma' is an alcove built into a wall of a traditional Japanese room where the art or flower is displayed.

The leaves of Japanese maples just begun to autumn color.

イイギリ Idesia polycarpa Maxim

イイギリは雌雄異株なので、赤い実のなったこの木は雌株ですね。赤くて目立つ実を付けるその目的は、鳥類に存在を示し摂食してもらい、種子分散を図ることです。私は、自然の仕組みにはいつも平伏します。

"Idesia polycarpa Maxim" is a dioecism. So this tree bearing red fruits is female. The purpose of producing red and prominent fruits is to spread seeds by feeding birds. I always adore to the mechanism of nature.

葉が落ちて、ただでさえ目立つ赤い実がひときわ目を引きます。

A red fruit is always standing out. These red fruits took my eye even more, because the leaves had fallen.

ナンキンハゼ Chinese tallow tree

ナンキンハゼの紅葉が始まりました。見頃はもう少し先です。

The autumn leaves of Chinese tallow tree have begun. The best time is a little later.

カツラ(桂) Cercidiphyllum japonicum

風が吹くと、2枚,3枚と黄色く紅葉した小さな丸い葉が落ちてきます。その葉の醤油のこげるような、よい香りがあたりにだたよいます。

When the breeze blows, the small round leaves which have turned yellow fall little by little. There is a fragrance in the air, because the leaves have an aroma like burned soy sauce.

お食い初め first meal

お食い初め。海外の人には、なんのことだか分からないでしょうね。

One of the traditional Japanese ceremonies for celebrating babies around 100-day-old  is “first meal."
Elders pretend to have their baby eat rice, soup, boiled food, and grilled fish. And we hope that the baby won't have trouble with food for a lifetime.

The interesting thing is that an elder touches a small stone taken from the ground of a shrine with chopsticks, and then touch the chopsticks to the baby's gums. Because we hope to strengthen the baby teeth.
This stone is called "the stone that hardens teeth".

ウルメールムンスター ulmer munster

鮮烈な赤は、デジタルカメラを選びます。新しい製品ほど、色の再現は良くなります。私の古いデジタルカメラでは、花びらに縁取りができてしまいます。でも、新しいカメラは、くっきりはっきり写るので、面白みは少ないです。完璧なものは、どの分野にもありません。それぞれの良いとことを楽しみましょう。

The bright red chooses a digital camera. The newer the product, the better the color reproduction. My old digital camera make hemming the petals. However, the new products produce simply clear image, so it's less interesting. There are no perfect things in any field. Let's enjoy each good point.

セブンスヘブン seventh heaven

イギリス生まれの薔薇、セブンスヘブン。天国には、7つの層があるのでしょうか。私には、地上の天国と地獄だけで充分です。

These are English-born roses seventh heaven. Is there seven layers in heaven?  For me, heaven and hell in this life are enough.

フリージア Friesia

薔薇は、虫媒花ですが、八重咲きの薔薇は花びらが多くて、雄しべも、雌しべも見えにくいですね。内側の花びらは、雄しべが花弁になったので、種子が作られないことが多いと聞きました。

The rose is an insect-pollinated flower, but the double-flowered rose has many petals and we cannot see the stamens and pistils easily. I heard that the petals on the inner side were made by changing stamens into petals, so the flower didn't produce seeds.

初めて見る表情です。

This is the first time I see this expression.

ジャストジョイ just joey

この撮影の直後に、この花は、庭師にカットされてしましました。このバラ園では、満開の花は、これからしおれるだけなので、ことごとくカットされて廃棄されます。

Immediately after I took this photograph, this flower was cut by a gardener.
In this rose garden, the flowers in full bloom will be cut and discarded entirely, because they are only withered from now on.

イノシシ wild boar

遊歩道を散歩していたら、ここでも、先日の大雨で、道がこの先なくなっていました。
イノシシが3匹、私には何の興味も示さず、とぼとぼと歩いて通り過ぎていきました。彼らもすみかを失ったのかも知れません。

Taking a walk along the promenade, I found the road was destroyed from here by heavy rains.
Three wild boars plod wearily without interest in me. They may have lost their home.
