寒緋桜(カンヒザクラ) bellflower cherry

　早咲きのカンヒザクラが、例年より1ヶ月ほど遅く咲きました。濃い赤色が目を引きます。

　The early-blooming bellflower cherry began to bloom about a month later than usual. The deep red color is attractive.

サザンカか椿か sasanqua or camellia japonica

　この木は、花の形から椿にみえますが、葉の形や花びらの散り方から判断すると、サザンカのようにも見えます。でも、サザンカがこの時期に咲いているはずはありません。

　今回は、自信を持って判断できませんでした。サザンカと椿はよく似ています。

　This tree looks like a camellia Japonica from the shape of the flowers, but it also looks like Sasanqua, judging from the shape of the leaves and the way the petals are scattered. However, Sasanqua does not bloom at this time of the year.

　I was unable to judge with confidence this time. Sasanqua and camellia japonica are very similar.

片栗(カタクリ) Dogtooth violet

　日が照ると花被片が大きく開き、ギザギザの濃い色の模様が目立ちます。昆虫を引きつける魅力があるのかも知れません。

　When the sun shines, the tepal, outer parts of a flower, open wide and the jagged dark lines stands out. I wonder if they could be attractive to insects.

辛夷(コブシ) kobus magnolia

　春は、風はよく吹き、鼻炎の原因となる花粉が多量に飛ぶので、私にとって厳しい季節です。コブシは花粉症に効く薬効があるそうですが、効果はどれほどのものなのでしょうか。

　Spring is a tough season for me as the wind often blows and the pollen that causes rhinitis flies much. Kobus Magnolia is said to have a medicinal effect on pollinosis, but I wonder how effective it is.

バルボコジューム Narcissus bulbocodium

　バルボコジュームは、スイセンの原種で日陰でも育つという我が家向きの花です。忘れなければ、秋には植えてみようと思います。

　Narcissus barbokojum is the original species of daffodils and can grow up where do not get much sunshine, it means the right flower to fit my garden. I will plant it in the fall, if I don't forget it.

　今年の桜の開花は例年より遅く、その上一本の木においても、一斉ではなく徐々に咲き進むように感じます。

　Cherry blossoms bloom later than usual this year, and even on a tree, they don't seem to bloom all at once as usual.

クリスマスローズ hellebore

　クリスマスローズ の花は長く楽しめます。1年の3分の1ほどの長い期間咲いています。1年の3分の1ほどの長い期間咲いています。

　We can enjoy hellebore flowers for a long time, They continue to bloom for a long period of about one-third of a year.

山芋の花殻 flower husks of Japanese yam

　山芋の花殻が、笹に絡んでいました。

　ドライフラワー愛好家に人気です。

　The flower husks of Japanese yam have twined around bamboo grass.

　It is popular among dry flower enthusiasts.

青木(アオキ) Japanese Aucuba

　アオキは高くても２ｍ位と思っていますが、この木は見上げるほど高く４ｍはありそうです。

　I think that Japanese Aucuba is about 2m at the highest,  but this tree seems to be about 4m high.

カラスノエンドウ Narrow-leaved Vetch

　子供の頃に鞘から種を取り去って、笛にして遊んだものですが、どうやって鳴らしたのか忘れてしまいました。そんな遊びをする子どもたちを、私の周りでは見かけなくなりました。

　When I was a child, I remove the seeds from a pod and played with it as a whistle, but I forgot how to make a sound. There are no such children playing like that around me anymore.

小豆梨(アズキナシ) Sorbus alnifolia

　冬芽を先に付ける若い枝は、今にもクネクネと動き出しそうで不気味です。

　The young branches with a winter bud on the tip are scary because they seem to wiggle immediately.

鶯神楽(ウグイスカグラ) Uguisukagura tree

　小さい花がひっそり咲いていたので、あやうく見過ごしてしまうところでした。

ラッパの形をしたピンクの花の先端は、５つに分かれています。花の中には、黄色い葯が目立つ雄しべが５本見えます。

　The small flowers were quietly blooming, so I was about to overlook them.

The tip of the trumpet-shaped pink flower is split into five. You can see five stamens with conspicuous yellow anther.

猫柳(ネコヤナギ) Pussy willow

　ふわふわの毛に包まれたこの花を、私達は猫をイメージしますが、それは雌花に限ったことではないでしょうか。赤色の葯が目立つ雄花は、私にはブラシのように見えます。

　We have the image of a cat in this flower wrapped in fluffy hair, but I think it is limited to the female flower. The male flower with its red anthers looks like a chimney brush to me.

白梅(はくばい) white Japanese apricot blossoms

　白梅がびっしりと咲いていました。ほのかな花の香りに包まれて、なんだか雪が積もっているような雰囲気を感じました。

　A lot of Japanese white apricot flowers have bloomed tightly. Surrounded by the subtle scent of blossoms, I felt somehow a kind of atmosphere, snowflakes were on the trees.

枝垂れ梅(シダレウメ) weeping Japanese apricot

　遠くから見ると、シダレウメは桜とよく似ています。

　ここは東南向きの日当たりの良い墓地の斜面です。手前の黄色い花はミツマタです。

　A weeping Japanese apricot resembles a cherry tree flower from  a distance.

　This is the slope of a sunny graveyard facing southeast. The yellow flowers in the foreground are paper-bush flowers.

満作(マンサク) Japanese witch hazel

　葉より花が先行します。花弁は黄色い線形で4つ、ねじれてシワのある独特の形をしています。枝はしなやかで丈夫なので、輪かんじきや筏を編む材料として使われていました。

　The flowers precede the leaves. The petals are linear yellow and have a unique shape with four twists and wrinkles. The branches are flexible and durable, so they were used as wakanjiki (Japanese snowshoes) and raft braids.

キエフの大門 Golden Gate of Kyiv (Золоті ворота)

　何年ぶりでしょう、ムソルグスキー作曲のピアノ組曲「展覧会の絵」を聞きました。

その最後の曲名がキエフの大門です。

　その門は、かつてモンゴル帝国に破壊されましたが、現在は復元されています。

　地図で場所を調べると、ウクライナの首都キエフの中心にあることを知りました。そのすぐ南側には、ウクライナ国立歌劇場があります。

　2022年1月に、この劇場で撮影されたキエフ・バレエ｢白鳥の湖｣全編が、株式会社 光藍社殿のご厚意により、youtubeで見ることができます。

　For the first time in a while, I heard the piano suite "Pictures at an Exhibition" composed by Mussorgsky. The last song name is the Golden Gate of Kyiv.

　The Gate was destroyed by the Mongol Empire in the old days, but is now being restored. 

　When I looked up its location on the map, I found that it was in the center of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Just south of it, there is the National Opera House of Ukraine.

　The Kyiv ballet "Swan Lake" filmed at this theater in January 2022 can be viewed from start to finish on YouTube with the kindness of Koransha Ltd.

ヒメキンセンカ Calendula arvensis

　日当たりの良いお墓の斜面に咲いています。

　The flowers bloom on the sunny slope of the graveyard.

タンポポの綿毛 dandelion fluff

　まだ、タンポポの花を見かけていないのに、綿毛を見つけました。

　I found dandelion fluff even though I hadn't seen the flowers yet.

梅の木 plum trees

　傍らに剪定された枝が積み上げられていました。梅の枝は想像より堅くて良い工作材料になりそうです。

　There were pruned branches piled up there. The plum branches were harder than I had imagined. It seems to be a good material.

仏の座(ホトケノザ) henbit

　小さい花なのでそれほど目立ちませんが、畑の畦に沢山咲いていました。

　It's a small flower, so it's not so conspicuous, but it was in full bloom on the ridges of the field.
