シンフォニー オブ ライツ symphony of lights
シンフォニー オブ ライツは、ビクトリアハーバーで行われている光と音のショーです。毎晩行なわれている割には、大勢の人出でした。
A Symphony of Lights is a light and sound show at Victoria harbor. It is carried out every day, but there was a huge crowd.

ビクトリアピーク Victoria Peak
彼らはフリーマッケットをやっているのかと思いましたが、実際は違いました。
フィリピンから香港へ、現在およそ40万人が出稼ぎに来ていると聞きました。この大きな数字は一桁間違っていないかと思いますが、とにかく多くの人が来ているようです。休日になれば、このように同郷の人と日がな一日過ごします。彼らにとって、こころ休まるひとときだと思います。
では、これからビクトリアピークの夜景を見に行くことにします。
I thought they were selling things at a flea market, but it was different from the fact.
I heard that around 400,000 Filipinos have come to Hong Kong from home as migrant worker now. I think this big number may be wrong one digit, but anyway many people seem to come. They spend all day long with the people of the same town like this on holiday. I think it is a time to feel relaxed for them.
Well, I'll go to look at the night view of the Victoria peak from now on.
昨日は良く晴れていたのですが、今日は少し曇っています。それでもピークトラムに並ぶ人は混み合っており、さらにツアー観光客が優先されるので、乗るのに2時間以上待ちました。下りは、混んでいるピークトラムを避けて、バスに変更しました。道に伸びた木の枝にビシバシぶつかりながら、細い道を高速で下るので、爽快感を味わうことができました。
It was fine yesterday, but today is cloudy. However, because there was a long line to wait for the Peak Tram and the tourist parties had priority, I waited more than two hours and more. I avoided a crowded cable car and descended by bus. I was excited on a downhill way. Because the bus went down the narrow road at high speed while hitting the branches which stuck out into the road mercilessly.

建築事情 construction circumstances
高層ビル tall building
香港には新も旧も含めて、高層ビルが数多くあることが印象に残ります。香港は強い地震が発生しない地域なので、高層建築物を建てやすいのでしょう。
It was impressive that there are many old and new tall buildings in Hong Kong. A strong earthquake doesn't occur in Hong Kong, so it seems to be able to build a tall building easily.
足場を組む set up scaffolding
建築現場の足場は、鉄骨で組むものと思っていましたが、竹が使われていました。鉄よりしなやかで、優しさが感じられます。材料の竹も容易に調達できるのでしょう。
I thought that they set up scaffolding with iron pipes in the building site. But bamboos are used here. I feel it is more flexible and gentle than iron. It seems that they can get the bamboo as materials easily.

譲らず喧嘩せず cut in but not fight
彼らは、隙きあればどんどん割り込みますが、身動きできなくなることもなく、上手に交差点を抜けて行きます。クラクションは、常に鳴り響いています。
ラプラプ市では、信号の一号機がやっと市役所の前に付いたところです。
If there is an interspace they thrust themselves in, but they pass through the crossing without being stuck. Horns always resound.
The first traffic signal has just installed in front of city hall in Lapu-Lapu City.

バカ baka
路地を歩いていくと、その先には広い草原が広がっており、周辺には木の下にバラックが何軒か寄せ集まっていました。草原には痩せこけた牛とヤギが、草を食んでいました。
一人の少年が近づいてきて、母牛は"バカ"だよと英語で告げて、去って行きました。後で調べると、バカはタガログ語で雌牛のことだと分かりました。
そこは、不思議な空間でした。
When I walked the alley, it led to the big grassy plain and there were several huts gathering under trees on the rim of the open space. Several thin cows and goats grazed grass on the grassy plain.
A boy approached me and told it in English that the mother cow was "baka" and he left. When I checked it later, I found "baka" means a cow in Tagalog. "Baka" means a fool in Japanese.
I felt that there was a mysterious space.
