アントノフ2 An-2
やっとのことでエンジンがかかり、不整地の草原をなんとか舞い上がり、喝采の拍手で送られました。広大な草原だから似合う風景です。
これは、2年前のあるフライトフェスティバルで撮影した写真です。
調布飛行場で、軽飛行機が離陸に失敗し、住民を巻き込む惨事となりました。
犠牲者のご冥福をお祈りします。
Engine started at long last, and the plane was able to take off somehow from the non-leveling grassland. The audience applauded. It is the scene in accord with the very large grassy plain.
This is the photograph which I took at a flight festival in Europe two years ago.

I'd like to express my deepest sympathy to all those who passed away.

バラの香りで蚊を落とす to drop a mosquito with fragrance of rose
バラの香りがする蚊取り線香を試してみました。
煙くないのが魅力的です。でも、バラの香りとは異なります。
もっともバラの香りだと、かえって昆虫がよって来ると思います。
I tried the mosquito-repellent coil which has the fragrance of a rose.
This is a good product which is not smoky. But it is different from the fragrance of the rose.
I think that if it has the real fragrance insects will come to the room actually.

二輪事故 motorcycle accident
今日は天気も良く、自動車専用道路には多くのオートバイが走っていました。
ガスがかかっているものの、富士山もよく見え、快適なドライブを楽しんでおりましたが、2件のオートバイ事故の現場を次々と見ることになりました。
2件目の事故：
渋滞の中、路側帯を救急車が追い抜いて行きましたので、ライダーは負傷したのでしょう。バイクの損傷は少ないようですので、怪我も軽いと良いのですが。
道路に転がるヘルメットがなんとも物悲しく印象に残りました。

I could see Mt. Fuji in a slight haze. And I enjoyed a drive, but saw two motorcycle accident sites one after another.
The second case:
When I crawl along in a traffic jam, one ambulance ran off on the side strip. Maybe the rider got injured in the accident.
It seemed there was little damage on the motorcycle, so I hope the injury of the rider is slight.
The helmet which was left on the road made me sad.

熱い屋根の猫 Cat on a Hot Roof
昨日、通りを歩いていると、一匹の猫が松の木の上から、私をずっと睨んでいました。写真に撮ろうと出かけましたが、今日はその猫ちゃんはいませんでした。
帰り道、こんなところに黒猫2匹がいるのを見つけました。
Yesterday, as I was walking along a street, a cat on a pine tree kept on gazing at me. So I went to the spot to snap a picture of the cat, but I couldn't meet the cat again.
On the way home, I found two black cats in such a place.
The roof was not made from tin.
帰り道、こんなところに黒猫2匹がいるのを見つけました。

宅配弁当 Home delivery supper
今日は、土用丑の日ということで、宅配弁当のメニューは、鰻の蒲焼きでした。
申し訳なさそうに、二切れの破片が乗っています。値段が500円程度と安いので仕方のないことです。
おかずは薄味で悪くはありません。でも、ご飯は柔らかすぎです。セブンイレブンのお弁当は、お米は美味しいので、あのように作れないのでしょうか。
宅配弁当は、高齢者向けなので、やわらかいほうがいいのかも知れません。

We Japanese have a custom to eat grilled eels in soy sauce on this day. So today's menu of the delivery to home supper was a grilled eel.
There are two fragments of eel apologetically. Because a price is low with around 500 yen, I took it well.
The side dish is not bad in light seasoning. But the rice is too tender.
Seven-Eleven sells delicious rice as a take-out lunch. I think that they should make it in the same way.
But this product is mainly for elderly people, it might be first priority to soften it.

毒吸引器 Poison remover
首の後ろに何かが飛び込み、同時にチクッと傷みを感じました。反射的に手が動き、衿ごと掴み取りました。なんと、クロスズメバチに刺されました。
過去に、軽いアナフィラキシーショック症状の経験があるので心配しましたが、大事には至りませんでした。
クロスズメバチは、それほど獰猛な見てくれではありませんが、好きになることはできません。
Something jumped into my neck color and I felt a prick. My hand moved reflexively and I grabbed something from above my collar. Oh my God, I was bitten by a vespula.
I experienced of a light anaphylactic shock symptom in a past, so I worried. Fortunately, I did not reach the serious matter.
A vespula does not have ferocious appearance, but I can't come to like it.

悪意のあるサイト Malicious site
小学校の課外事業で使うテキストの作成を始めました。
使用する漢字が学習済か調べるために、インターネットのあるサイトを参照しようとしたところ、なんとそのサイトは、ハイランクの危険なサイトであると、ウイルス対策ソフトが警告を出しました。
誤検知かもしれませんが、あえて危険を冒すことは止めて、本の辞書を利用することにしました。

I consulted with the certain internet site to see whether the Chinese characters which are used in the text had been learned. To my surprise, my anti-virus software gave me a warning. It said that there is a high rank risk on this site.
It might be a false detection, but I avoided running a risk. I decided to use printed dictionary.

頬杖 to rest one's cheek in one's hand
頬杖をついて、休んでいるのカモ
私の英語辞書には、一語で頬杖を表現する単語がありません。英語圏では、頬杖をつく行為は、一般的ではないのでしょうか。
This duck seems to be resting his cheek on his hand.
I couldn't find a single word that means resting the cheek on the hand on my dictionary. I think whether this is because the act was not common in the English-speaking world.

暑い夏 Hot summer
今日はとても暑い一日でした。
日本の気候区分は温帯に分類されていますが、室内でも摂氏33度もあり、夏は熱帯地域と変わらない暑さだと思います。

ねじり草 Spiranthes
この三本は同じ向きに回転しています。上から見ると右巻き、下から見れば左巻き。さて、どっち巻きと言えばよいのでしょうか。
この花を見て、"ねじの回転"を思い出しました。しばらくぶりに読んで見ようと思います。
As for two of them, stems have flowers spiraling up in the same direction. The other stem is counter direction. Seeing from the top, it is clockwise. Seeing from a bottom, it is counterclockwise. Well, are these flowers clockwise or counterclockwise?
By the way in Japan, a counterclockwise person means an odd person.
And now, these flowers reminded me "The Turn of the Screw". I intend to read it after a long time.

アーティチョーク Artichoke
アーティチョークは、ヨーロッパやアメリカでは、食用として珍しくないそうです。私は食べたことがありません。日本では、観賞用として栽培されますが、野菜として普及していません。
スペイン料理のレストランで、注文したことがあります。生憎入荷しておらず、食べることができませんでした。

繰返される運転ミス Repeated driving error
買い物に行く途中、たまたま暴走事故直後の現場を見ました。多分アクセルとブレーキを踏み間違えたのでしょう。歩道に乗り上げ、エアコン室外機をこすった後止まったようです。運転していたのは70才台の老人でした。運転者を含め、怪我人が出なくて幸いでした。
オートマチック車では、正反対の機能であるアクセルとブレーキを、右足だけで操作するので、本質的に危険な道具だと思います。誰でも同様の事故を起こす可能性があるということです。
マニュアル車では、ブレーキを掛ける時、クラッチも踏むので、誤ってアクセルを踏んでも直接事故につながることはありません。
最近、安全機能が進歩してきましたが、まだまだ安心できるところまで到達していません。オートマ車にも、クラッチペダルをつけて、プレーキを踏む時はクラッチも踏む癖を付けることは、有用かも知れません。

The car ran onto the sidewalk and stopped after having rubbed an air-conditioner outdoor unit. The driver was a man in his 70s. There is no injured person including the driver in this accident. it was happy.
A car with automatic transmissions, I think it is an intrinsically dangerous tool. Because we use only right leg to control the contrary two functions of the acceleration and the deacceleration. It means that anyone may cause same kinds accident.
On the other hand, the car with a manual transmission, there is no such danger.
When we stop a manual transmission car, we step on a brake pedal with our right foot and simultaneously step on a clutch pedal with our left foot to cut transmission of the power.
Recently safety functions progressed, but do not still arrive at the place where we can feel relieved.
I think that it is useful to attach a clutch pedal (to cut fuel) to even the automatic car. And it is good thing we make a habit of stepping on a clutch pedal when we reduce/stop speed.

梅雨に咲くバラ Rose in the rainy season
久しぶりにバラ園に行ってみると、ちらほら咲いていました。
長雨に打たれたのか、どれも生気が抜けたように咲いています。

All flowers bloomed as if they were lifeless. Probably I think that the long rain did it.

花の名は Name unkown
この花はなんという名前なんだろう。名前がわからないと、なんだか落ち着きません。でも、名前が分かると、どういう訳かすべてわかった気分になって、関心は別のところへ行ってしまいます。
気にもせず、それぞれの花は、それぞれに咲いています。

ユリ Lily
畑の境界に、色とりどりのユリが植えてありました。
ユリといえば、ヤマユリとオニユリくらいしか知らないので、豊富で派手な色 ( 黄、赤、ピンク、橙 ) があることをはじめて知りました。

As for lily, I only know two or three kinds, so I was surprised that the lily had various gaudy colors (yellow, red, pink, orange).
In Japan, we often express a beautiful woman in this way. "She sits as a peony (botan in Japanese) and stands as a peony (syakuyaku in Japanese) and walks as a lily."
We Japanese classify "poeny" into two species, "botan" and "syakuyaku".

レーダー追尾 Radar Flight Following
今回は知人の乗った飛行機の状況を、二つのウェッブサイトを利用してリアルタイムに確認しました。機影が消える地域もありますが、フライトを通して追尾できるので、大変役に立ちます。このように、状況把握はレーダーによる実データで監視したいものです。

Using two websites, I continued checking the situation of the airplane which an acquaintance got in. There were the some areas where the scene of the airplane disappeared, but the websites were very helpful because I was able to check it throughout a flight in real time. In this way, I want to confirm the situation by real radar data.
