普賢象(フゲンゾウ) fugenzou

普賢象は八重咲きの桜です。雄しべが像の鼻に似ているので象という名前が付きました。動物の名前が着いている桜は他にないと思います。

"Fugen-zo" is a double-flowered cherry tree. "Zo", in Japanese, means an elephant. It was named elephant because the stamens resemble the nose of elephants. I don't think there are any other cherry trees with animal names.

Two million masks were given to Japan from Taiwan. In Japan, the dark news that the number of infected people (COVID-19) is increasing continues, but we are encouraged by the kindness of Taiwan. We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone in Taiwan.

ネモフィラ baby blue eyes

ネモフィラは青だと思っていましたが、濃い紫もありました。

I didn't know any nemophila (baby blue eyes) other than blue, but there was also dark purple.

エニシダ cytisus

エニシダは、乾燥地へ適応するために葉が小さいので、緑色をした枝でも光合成が行われます。

Since the leaves of Cytisus are small to adapt to a dry area, photosynthesis also works in the green branches.

黄花九輪桜(キバナノクリンザクラ) cowslip

駅への細い歩きにくい抜け道の脇に咲いていました。

It was blooming beside a secret rugged path to the station.

マスク作り mask making

新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大に伴いマスク不足が続いています。
開店休業の我が家は、マスク工房に変身しました。日頃お世話になっている方へ、洗濯できるマスクをお送りしています。頑張って、日産50枚ですが、ゴムの入手が難しくなってきました。
マスクには、平型、プリーツ型、立体型と色々な形がありますが、比べてみると、私には立体型が一番違和感なく使用できます。

My home, which has been closed business due to the COVID-19, has been changed to the mask-making workshop. We are giving washable masks to those who are taking care of us. We can make 50 masks a day if we do our best, but it has become difficult to obtain rubber.
There are various types of masks such as flat type, pleated type, and three-dimensional type, but when comparing these types, the three-dimensional type is the most comfortable to use.

馬酔木 Japanese andromeda

我が家の馬酔木は、刈り込みすぎて元気がありません。
写真は我が家の馬酔木ではありません。

The Japanese andromeda in my garden is too pruned and unhealthy.

デイジー daisy

このような咲き方をポンポン咲きといいますが、このポンポンとは何を意味するか知らずに使っていました。どうやら玉房のことだと思い至りました。

This kind of blooming is called "PON-PON saki" (saki means blooming) in Japanese, but I have used it without knowing what it means. It seems coming from English word "POMPOM."
