青木(アオキ) Japanese Aucuba

　アオキは高くても２ｍ位と思っていますが、この木は見上げるほど高く４ｍはありそうです。

　I think that Japanese Aucuba is about 2m at the highest,  but this tree seems to be about 4m high.

カラスノエンドウ Narrow-leaved Vetch

　子供の頃に鞘から種を取り去って、笛にして遊んだものですが、どうやって鳴らしたのか忘れてしまいました。そんな遊びをする子どもたちを、私の周りでは見かけなくなりました。

　When I was a child, I remove the seeds from a pod and played with it as a whistle, but I forgot how to make a sound. There are no such children playing like that around me anymore.

小豆梨(アズキナシ) Sorbus alnifolia

　冬芽を先に付ける若い枝は、今にもクネクネと動き出しそうで不気味です。

　The young branches with a winter bud on the tip are scary because they seem to wiggle immediately.

鶯神楽(ウグイスカグラ) Uguisukagura tree

　小さい花がひっそり咲いていたので、あやうく見過ごしてしまうところでした。

ラッパの形をしたピンクの花の先端は、５つに分かれています。花の中には、黄色い葯が目立つ雄しべが５本見えます。

　The small flowers were quietly blooming, so I was about to overlook them.

The tip of the trumpet-shaped pink flower is split into five. You can see five stamens with conspicuous yellow anther.

猫柳(ネコヤナギ) Pussy willow

　ふわふわの毛に包まれたこの花を、私達は猫をイメージしますが、それは雌花に限ったことではないでしょうか。赤色の葯が目立つ雄花は、私にはブラシのように見えます。

　We have the image of a cat in this flower wrapped in fluffy hair, but I think it is limited to the female flower. The male flower with its red anthers looks like a chimney brush to me.

白梅(はくばい) white Japanese apricot blossoms

　白梅がびっしりと咲いていました。ほのかな花の香りに包まれて、なんだか雪が積もっているような雰囲気を感じました。

　A lot of Japanese white apricot flowers have bloomed tightly. Surrounded by the subtle scent of blossoms, I felt somehow a kind of atmosphere, snowflakes were on the trees.
