矢車菊(ヤグルマギク) cornflower

　ヤグルマギクを、ドライフラワーにして楽しまれてる方は多いと思います。

　ツタンカーメンの棺には、ヤグルマギクの花輪が添えられ、3500年経っても花の原形は保たれていたそうです。その花輪は、ツタンカーメンの妻、アンケセナーメンが添えたのでしょうね。

　There are many people who enjoy making cornflowers into dried flowers.

　I heard that the coffin of Tutankhamun was accompanied by a wreath of cornflowers and it remained in its original shape even after 3500 years. Perhaps, the wreath was placed by Tutankhamun's wife, Ankhesenamen.

鈴蘭(スズラン) Lily of the valley

　春になると日当たりの悪い塀の陰で、わずかのスズランは咲き始め、その存在を思い出します。

　Near the wall with little sunlight, in the spring, some lilies of the valley begin to bloom, reminding me of their existence.

鉄線(テッセン) clematis

　和名の漢字表記は、「鉄線」という何とも味気ない名前です。

　The meaning of the Japanese name of this plant is iron wire, which is a really dull name, I think.

ハンカチの木 handkerchief tree

　ハンカチの木という名前の木に花が咲いていると、教えていただいたので見てきました。初めて見る木で、高さは10mはあるような高木です。

　花は、二枚の花びらに包まれているように見えますが、この花びらに見えるものは、実は、苞と呼ばれる葉が変形したものだそうです。地面に落ちた苞は、白色で薄くて柔らかく、ハンカチのようでした。

　I was told a tree named Handkerchief Tree is in bloom, so I went there and checked it out.  This is the first time I see the tree. The height is may be around 10m. 

　The flower appears to be wrapped in two petals, but these petals is actually a deformed leaf called a bract. The bracts that fell to the ground were white, thin and soft, so it resembled a handkerchief.

紫露草(ムラサキツユクサ) spiderwort

　花びらが紫色、雄しべの先が黄色。良いコントラストを作り出しています。　

　The petals are violet and the tips of the stamens are yellow, this combination creates a good contrast.

オダマキ columbine

　とても表現が難しい不思議な形をした花です。花の色は豊富で、白や、ピンク、赤、オレンジ、黄、青、紫、複数の色を含む複色などがあります。

　It is a flower with a mysterious shape which is difficult to express. The flowers have plenty of many colors such as white, pink, red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, and certain flowers contain several colors.

木香薔薇(モッコウバラ) banksia rose

　 随分前になりますが、モッコウバラの挿し木に失敗しました。ただ枝を土に挿しただけなので当然です。

　Long time ago, I failed to grow banksia rose from a cutting. It was the natural result because I just put a branch in the soil.
