厄年 Yakudoshi (unlucky ages)

神社に厄年の年齢が掲示されていました。

There was a table of ages of the unlucky years at a shrine.

Yakudoshi:
Yakudoshi is a set of unlucky age handed down in Japan. There are not the scientific basis, but many people still believe it.
Unlucky years are different for men and women. In case of a man, it is 25, 42, 61 and in case of woman, it is 19, 33, 37.  In particular, the age of 42 for men and of 33 for women are called the age of major calamity.
Both the previous year of Yakudoshi and the next year are also unlucky years.

In this case, we count our age in the traditional Japanese age system explained below. When a child is counted as one year old at birth and becomes one year older on every New Year's Day.
