フェンスに何かぶつかる音がしたので、庭にでてみると、小鳥が地面にうずくまっていました。まだ飛べない幼鳥です。
電線には親鳥が止まって盛んにチチチと鳴いています。親鳥は雀より少し大きく尾を回転させるような仕草をしています。おそらくモズではないかと思います。
幼鳥は雀に似た色をしています。
親鳥は、その大きさからみて、幼鳥を掴んで巣へ戻せそうもありません。
カラスの姿は見えませんが、近くに鳴き声がします。
さて、どうしたものか。
近くの交番のお巡りさんから、動物愛護センターの電話番号を教えて貰いました。
警察は、持ち主のいない野鳥を保護することはできないそうです。もっともだと思います。
動物愛護センターに電話すると、野生動物については、環境局の扱いであることを教えてくれました。
環境局の担当者の方からは、巣に戻せない場合は、容器に入れて少し高い位置に置き、あとは親鳥に任せ、遠くから見守るしかないとアドバイスを受けました。アドバイス通りにしようと試みましたが、日差しが強いので、親鳥のいる電線の直ぐ下の草むらに放しました。
親鳥が警戒しないよう、直ぐにその場を離れました。
巣へ無事に戻れるとよいのですが。
I heard a little hitting sound at the fence in my garden, so I went out to there. I found a small bird which crouched down there. It is a young bird which cannot fly yet.
A pair of birds believed to be the parent was sitting on an electric wire and cried strongly. The parent bird which was a little bigger than a sparrow did the gesture turning a tail. Probably I thought the bird to be a shrike.
The young bird resembles a sparrow.
Judging from the size, I guessed that the parent bird could not lift a young bird and could not return it to a nest also. I could not watch a crow, but heard cries of a crow.
Well, what shall I do?
The police officer of the nearby police box taught me the phone number of the animal protection center. The force can not care the wild animal which has not the owner. I think that is reasonable.
I called to the animal protection center. A person in charge of the animal protection center told me that you should call the environmental station as for a wild animal problem.
I received the next advise from the environmental station. If you could not return a yong bird to the nest, put it into a container and put the container at relatively high position. And left it for a parent bird.
But sunlight was strong, so I put it in the grass directly under the electric wire that there was the parent bird.
I left the place so that a parent bird was not cautious.
I have hoped the young bird would be able to come back to the nest safely.
