蟻とアブラムシ

ムクゲの花に近づくと、蟻とアブラムシが沢山たかっていました。
アブラムシの排泄物は甘いので、それを求めて蟻が集まります。一方、アブラムシは天敵のてんとう虫などから、蟻が守ってくれるので、蟻とアブラムシは共生関係にあります。

When I approached a flower of a Hibiscus syriacus, I found many ants and aphids gathering on the plant.
The discharge of an aphid is sweet, so an ant comes up to an aphid. On the other hand, an ant defends an aphid against natural enemy's ladybug, so they are symbiosis each other.

並天道虫 Harmonia axyridis (ladybug)

光沢のあるてんとう虫は、アブラムシを食べる益虫です。
植物を育てる立場だと、肉食が益虫で、草食が害虫になります。

A ladybug which have a luster back is a beneficial insect eating aphids.
From a viewpoint of the raising of plants, carnivorous insects are beneficial, herbivorous insects are harmful.

花の名前は何というのでしょうか。イルカが飛び出すかのように咲いていました。

I wonder what the name of this flower is. The flower bloomed as if dolphins jumped out one after another.

ダンスパーティー Hydrangea hybrida 'Dance Party'

日本とアメリカのアジサイを掛けあわせて作られたアジサイです。
冠のように咲きました。見ていると楽しくなります。

This was made by crossbreeding a Japanese hydrangea and an American hydrangea. It bloomed like a crown. It makes me feel happy.

ネキリムシ cutworm

苗の茎が根本付近でバッサリ切られていました。周りの土を2cm程削ると、犯人とおもわれるネキリムシが現れました。

予防のため、ペットボトルを輪切りにして、根本に置きました。効果のほどは分かりません。

The stem of a young plant was cut sharply near the root. When I shaved the surface of soil around the stem approximately 2cm, a cutworm seemed to be the criminal emerged.

To prevent damage, I cut a plastic bottle into a round slice and put it at the root.
I don't know whether it is effective.

追記（6月16日）：
今朝見ると、茎は切られていませんでしたが、葉が食べられていました。土の中には、やはりネキリムシが潜んでいました。
残念ながら、ペットボトルのカラーには、効果はありませんでした。

EDIT (on June 16):
When I watched another young plant this morning, the stem was not cut, but the leaves have been eaten. I found a cutworm in the soil again.
Unfortunately the collar of the plastic bottle is not effective.

青いバラ Blue rose

青いバラは永遠の夢でしょうか。
遺伝子操作により、青いバラができたと伝えられましたが、どう見ても私には紫色にしか見えません。

Is the blue rose a dream not to come true?
We were informed that a gene manipulation enabled a blue rose, but it was purple from any point of view for me.

ケシ坊主の構造 structure of poppy seed

観賞用ポピーの花が見頃を過ぎると、直ぐに刈り取られてしまいますが、ここでは、ずいぶん長く楽しませて貰いました。

今年は、花よりケシ坊主に興味を持ちました。振ると上部の穴から種が飛び出します。飛び出す穴は、実が熟すまでできません。ケシ坊主の構造は機能的で、自然の造形力の巧みさを感じます。

Generally, when the in full bloom of the poppy passed, it will be mowed down immediately, but I could enjoy it a long time here.

I am interesting in a poppy seed (top of stem) than a flower in this season. The seeds fly out from the upper hole when I wave it. The hole from which seeds fly out does not exist until the fruit ripen. The structure of the poppy seeds (top of stem) is systematic, so I can feel the skillfulness of nature's formative design.
