お食い初め first meal

お食い初め。海外の人には、なんのことだか分からないでしょうね。

One of the traditional Japanese ceremonies for celebrating babies around 100-day-old  is “first meal."
Elders pretend to have their baby eat rice, soup, boiled food, and grilled fish. And we hope that the baby won't have trouble with food for a lifetime.

The interesting thing is that an elder touches a small stone taken from the ground of a shrine with chopsticks, and then touch the chopsticks to the baby's gums. Because we hope to strengthen the baby teeth.
This stone is called "the stone that hardens teeth".

鮮烈な赤は、デジタルカメラを選びます。新しい製品ほど、色の再現は良くなります。私の古いデジタルカメラでは、花びらに縁取りができてしまいます。でも、新しいカメラは、くっきりはっきり写るので、面白みは少ないです。完璧なものは、どの分野にもありません。それぞれの良いとことを楽しみましょう。

The bright red chooses a digital camera. The newer the product, the better the color reproduction. My old digital camera make hemming the petals. However, the new products produce simply clear image, so it's less interesting. There are no perfect things in any field. Let's enjoy each good point.

セブンスヘブン seventh heaven

イギリス生まれの薔薇、セブンスヘブン。天国には、7つの層があるのでしょうか。私には、地上の天国と地獄だけで充分です。

These are English-born roses seventh heaven. Is there seven layers in heaven?  For me, heaven and hell in this life are enough.

フリージア Friesia

薔薇は、虫媒花ですが、八重咲きの薔薇は花びらが多くて、雄しべも、雌しべも見えにくいですね。内側の花びらは、雄しべが花弁になったので、種子が作られないことが多いと聞きました。

The rose is an insect-pollinated flower, but the double-flowered rose has many petals and we cannot see the stamens and pistils easily. I heard that the petals on the inner side were made by changing stamens into petals, so the flower didn't produce seeds.

初めて見る表情です。

This is the first time I see this expression.

ジャストジョイ just joey

この撮影の直後に、この花は、庭師にカットされてしましました。このバラ園では、満開の花は、これからしおれるだけなので、ことごとくカットされて廃棄されます。

Immediately after I took this photograph, this flower was cut by a gardener.
In this rose garden, the flowers in full bloom will be cut and discarded entirely, because they are only withered from now on.

イノシシ wild boar

遊歩道を散歩していたら、ここでも、先日の大雨で、道がこの先なくなっていました。
イノシシが3匹、私には何の興味も示さず、とぼとぼと歩いて通り過ぎていきました。彼らもすみかを失ったのかも知れません。

Taking a walk along the promenade, I found the road was destroyed from here by heavy rains.
Three wild boars plod wearily without interest in me. They may have lost their home.
