土筆(ツクシ) "Tukushi" (Equisetum arvense)

　ツクシは独立した植物ではなく、スギナと地下茎でつながっています。ツクシは、胞子を飛ばす役割をもつ胞子茎であり、スギナは光合成により栄養分を生産する役割の栄養茎です。我が家の庭では、ツクシを見ることはないけれど、スギナだけが元気にどんどん生えてきます。不思議に思います。

　"Tsukushi" is not an independent plant. It is connected to "Sugina" by a rhizome. "Tsukushi" is a fertile stalk that has the role of spreading spores, and "Sugina" is a sterile, or nutrient, stalk that produces nutrients by photosynthesis. In my garden, I don't see "Tsukushi", but only "Sugina" comes up more and more. I'm not sure why.

連翹(レンギョウ) forsythia

　昨日のユキヤナギに続き、このレンギョウも元気よくのびやかに成長しています。

スミレ Viola mandshurica

　 紫色に混じって、珍しい白いスミレも咲いていました。

君子蘭(クンシラン) natal lily

　ランという名前がついていますが、ヒガンバナ科の植物です。玄関に飾られていますが存在感がありますね。

　Although the Japanese name contains the word orchid, it is a plant of the Amaryllidaceae family. It is displayed at the entrance of someone's house. It has a strong presence.

花桃(ハナモモ) hana peach

　ハナモモにはいろいろな種類がありますが、どれも江戸時代に作出されたそうです。どれも明るい雰囲気で、見る者を幸せな気分にしてくれます。

　There are various types of hana peach, but it is said that they were all created during Edo period. Each of them have an luminous atmosphere and make the viewer feel happy.

ミツバツツジ Rhododendron dilatatum

　蕾の先に残った芽鱗は帽子のようです。葉より花が先行しますが、写真の中央にミツバ葉を見ることができます。

　The bud scales left on the tips of the buds are like caps. The flowering precedes the leaves, but in the center of the photo you can see a leaf, consisting of three leaves.
