　深みのあるオレンジ色です。蕾のときは色が濃く、咲き進むと薄い色になっていきます。

　葉緑素を持たないので色は褐色、そして、その姿とともに、なんとなく不気味さを感じさせる外来の寄生植物です。牧草に混じって日本に伝わり、生態系に害を与えると見做されています。

アカザ fat hen

　茎は直立しており、秋になると木質化して固くなるので、杖の材料になるそうです。草ですから、杖に使えるほど固くなるとは思えません。毎年、秋になったら確認したいと思うのですが、雑草として扱われ、それまでには刈られてしまいます。

　以前、庭に種を蒔いたのですが、芽は出ませんでした。

　ノイバラとヤマブキ、ハマナスは、ともに似た花をつけます。どれも英名では、Japanese roseと言われています。関わることの少ないものの名前は、あまり細分化されないということでしょう。こんなときの共通認識のためには、やはり学名の必要性を感じます。でも、学名は味気ないですね。

　These plants, Japanese name: noibara, yamabuki and hamanasu, have similar flowers. It seems that all of them are called Japanese rose in English. Names for things that have less involved our lives are probably less subdivided. I think the scientific name is necessary to have common recognition in such cases. However, the scientific name is bland.
