心地よい風景 soothing scene

　桐の老木ですが今年も花が咲きました。

　花が咲かなくても、空を背景にしたたたずまいには、なぜか目を引くものがあります。

　As you can see, it is an old Paulownia tree, but it has bloomed again this year.

　Even without blooming flowers, the appearance against the sky is somehow eye-catching.

紅花詰草(ベニバナツメクサ) Strawberry candle

　ベニバナツメクサは、夏の高温多湿に弱いです。私と同じなので親近感を感じます。

Strawberry candles are sensitive to high temperature and high humidity in summer. They are just like me, so I feel close to them.

花菱草(ハナビシソウ) California poppy

　このような大きく咲いた花の形のぐい呑みを、作ってみるのもいいかと思います。

　I think it would be a good idea to make a sake cup shaped like this wide open  flower.

ハンカチノキ Handkerchief tree

　ハンカチノキの花は、たくさんの雄花と1個の雌花が球形となり、その花を2枚の大きな苞（花の根元につく葉）が抱くような形で開花します。花びらはありません。ハンカチに見えるのは、この大きな苞です。触った感じは、すごく薄くて柔らかく、ハンカチというより、ティッシュといった感じです。

　既に見頃を過ぎており、球形の花は崩れています。

　The handkerchief flower has many male flowers and one female flower that form a sphere, which is held by two large bracts (leaves at the base of the flower). It has no petals. What appears to be a handkerchief is this large bract.

When I touched it, it felt like a tissue rather than a handkerchief because it was so thin and soft.

　It is already past its prime and the spherical flowers collapsed.

矢車菊(ヤグルマギク) cornflower

　ドライフラワーにしたヤグルマギクの花には、美しい色が残ります。ツタンカーメンの棺の上に載せられていた花輪には、ヤグルマギクも使われていました。

　Dried cornflowers retain their beautiful color. One of the wreath flowers on Tutankhamen's coffin was cornflower.

チェリーセイジ Salvia microphylla

　チェリーセイジは、丈夫で花期が長いと聞いていました。頂いた一束の切り花は、一晩経つと、花がポロポロと落ち始めました。

　I heard that Salvia microphylla is hardy and have a long flowering period. However, the bunch of cut flowers I received, the flowers began to fall one after another after a night.

名前がわからない name unknown

　この花は、ブログで初出ではないと思いますが、名前を思い出せません。花弁の色が、ピンクからブルーへ変わる特徴があります。ご存知の方がおられましたら、コメント欄に記入していただければ幸いです。

　I don't think this flower is not first appeared on this blog, but I can't remember its name. The color of the petals is characterized by changing from pink to blue. If anyone knows of any, I would appreciate it if you could fill in the comments section.
