エンジェルストランペット angel's Trumpet

　大柄な花ですが、可憐な雰囲気もあります。有毒な植物なので、素手で触らないようにしましょう。

　The flowers have a delicate appearance even though they are large. Avoid touching this plant with your bare hands as it is poisonous.

飛燕草(ヒエンソウ) larkspur

　和名の由来は、花の形をツバメが飛ぶ姿になぞらえたのも。一方、英名は、ヒバリの蹴爪（踵からでたトンガリ）です。どちらも鳥に由来するのは面白いです。この写真のアングルでは、鳥に見立てるのはちょっと難しいですね。

　The flower's Japanese name is derived from its resemblance to a swallow in flight. On the other hand, its English name comes from the skylark's spur (the pointed tip that extends from the heel). It's intriguing that both originated from birds. The angle of this photo makes it hard to tell if it's a bird.

オルラヤ white lace flower

　白い小さな花が茎の先にまとまって咲くので、遠目には白いレースのように見えます。ドクゼリに外観が似ているので、別名はドクゼリモドキです。もどきですので、オルラヤに毒はありません。

　Small white flowers can look like white lace from a distance because they bloom in clusters at the tops of the stems.

チェリーセイジ Salvia microphylla

　花の上部に飛び出た雌しべの頂部が、鳥の頭のように見えます。通常は雄しべは見えませんが、蝶が蜜を吸いにやってくると、2本の雄しべが出現し花粉を蝶の背中に着けます。雄しべを隠すのは、自家受粉を防ぐためと言われています。

　In my view, the top of the pistil that protrudes from the top of the flower looks like a bird's head. The stamens are usually not visible, but when a butterfly arrives to suck nectar, two stamens emerge and deposit pollen on the butterfly's back. The stamens' hiding is believed to prevent self-pollination.

突抜忍冬(ツキヌキニンドウ) trumpet honeysuckle

　突抜と云う名前の通り、枝先の花の後ろで対生する葉の間を茎が突き抜けているように見えます。ふっと連凧を思い出しました。

　The Japanese name for this plant begins with words that mean "to break through." As the name suggests, behind the flowers at the ends of the branches, a stem appears to be pushing through between adverse layout leaves. I suddenly recalled kites that were connected like a train.

酔仙翁(スイセンノウ) Lychnis coronaria

　花の鮮烈な紫紅色と、白色の毛が密生する葉茎はフランネルの柔らかさを醸し出し、一度見ると忘れない独特の雰囲気をを持っています。

　The plant's unique atmosphere is created by the vivid purple-crimson flowers and leaves and stems covered with white hairs that give it the softness of flannel. You will never forget the grass once you see it.

アメリカ風露(フウロ) geranium

　花が終わると、そこから角が伸びてきてその根本に黒い実ができます。しばらくすると、種は周囲に飛び散ります。赤くなった葉が目を引きます。土地が痩せているほど、その赤みは増すそうです。

　After a flower falls, a horn appears and black berries form at the base. After a while, seeds scatter around. The red leaves are visually appealing. They say that the thinner the soil, the more red it becomes.
