棕梠(シュロ) chusan palm

　シュロは成長が遅く、直立して周りに広がらず、手のかからない植物なので、かつては狭い日本の住居の庭にも植えるブームがありました。でも、何十年も立つと背が高くなりすぎて、手がつけられなくなります。

　私は植木屋ではありませんが、依頼され伐採をしたことがあります。幹は木質というより繊維の束でした。そして見かけによらずとても重かったです。

　ご家庭の庭に木を植えるときは、大きく成長した姿を想像してからにしましょう。

　この写真では、シュロの葉が人間の頭、黄色い密集した花が腕、幹が胴体のように私には見えます。パレイドリア現象ですね。

　Chusan palm grows slowly, stands upright, does not spread, and does not need time and effort, so there was a boom in the past to plant it in the garden of a small Japanese dwelling. But tens of years later, it becomes too tall to be handled properly.

　I was not a gardener, but I was asked to cut down the trees. Its trunk was something like a bundle of fibers rather than woodenness. And it was very heavy than I thought.

　When you plant a tree in your garden, think about how big it becomes.

　In this photo, the palm leaves look like a human head, the dense yellow flowers look like arms, and the trunk looks like a body. It's a Pareidolia phenomenon, isn't it?
