紫外線対策 UV protection

アカメガシワの新芽は、緑に縁取りされた赤色なのでよく目立ちます。バラの新芽も同様に赤茶けた色をしていることに気付きます。
葉には光合成を行うため葉緑素が不可欠です。ところが、この葉緑素は紫外線に弱いという弱点があります。そのため、新芽のうちはアントシアニンがバリアとなり、葉緑素を保護するそうです。このアントシアニンが、新芽を赤く見せます。


A sprout of 'Mallotus japonicus' is outstanding in red color with green hem.
Occasionally, I notice a sprout of the rose is reddish brown in the same way.
Chlorophyl is indispensable for the leaf of the plant to photosynthesize. However, the chlorophyl has a weak point to be vulnerable to ultraviolet rays.
Therefore anthocyanin becomes the barrier while the leaf is a sprout to protect chlorophyl. This anthocyanin make a sprout look red.

風に揺れるポピーを見ていら、白いものが赤い花へ、降臨するように見えました。
