七夕(tanabata) star festival

天帝は、天の川を挟んでアルタイルとヴェガを引き離しました。しかし、彼らは7月7日にだけ会うことができます。私たちは、この日に七夕祭りを開き、二人の再会を祝います。短冊に願いを書いて竹に吊るすと、その願いが叶うと言われています。

The king separated Altair and Vega by the Milky Way. However, they can meet only on July 7. We hold the star festival on this day and celebrate their reunion. We write wishes on the strip of paper and display it on the bamboo, then it is said that the wishes come true.
We call this festival "Tanabata".

カブトムシ beetle

カブトムシが沢山いると、その独特の臭いでその存在を知ることができます。子どもたちに大変人気のある昆虫ですが、いつも喧嘩をしており協調性がありません。生存競争が激しいのでしょう。

When there are a lot of beetles, I can find it for the unique smell. It is an insect very popular with children, but they always quarrel and are not cooperative. The struggle for existence will be intense.

オカメアジサイ hydrangea popcorn

このアジサイは、可愛くて、愛嬌があります。花の名前は日本語では、頬が丸く張り出した女性の顔を意味しますが、英語名では、ポップコーン・アジサイです。名前通りポップコーンに似ています。

This hydrangea is pretty and lovable. The name of the flower means the face of the woman who has plump cheeks.
The English name is a hydrangea popcorn. I think it's just like the name.

天窓にカラス crow at skylight

騒がしいので廊下に出てみると、天窓の上で2匹のカラスが暴れていました。下から棒でつついても、逃げません。

しばらく前のことですが、天窓のガラスに、ゴルフボール大の石を、落として遊ぶカラスがいました。この時も、追い払おうとしてもなかなか逃げません。大きなうさぎのぬいぐるみの顔を、下からガラスに押し付けると、やっとカラスは逃げて行きました。でも、石は、ガラスの上に残ったままでした。しばらくすると、石はなくなっていたので、多分カラスが取りに戻ったのだと思います。愛着のある石だったのでしょう。

頭のよいカラスは、鳴き声の数でお互いに意思を伝え合うそうです。確か4回の鳴き声が危険を意味すると記憶しています。追い払うにはスピーカーでこの鳴き声を流すのが効果的かも知れません。

When I went out of the room because the outside was noisy, I found that two crows are playing on the skylight of the corridor. I nudged the underside of the glass with a stick but they didn't fly away.

A few years ago, there was the crow which dropped a stone of the size same as a golf ball to the glass of a skylight. It was difficult for me to send them away at that time. When I pushed the face of the big stuffed toy rabbit to the glass from the backside, the crow flew away at last. But the stone was left on the glass. The stone disappeared after a short time. Probably I think that the crow returned to take it. For the crow, it would be a stone with an emotional attachment.

The bright crow seems to communicate with the number of cries each other. I remember that four times of cries of a crow probably mean danger. I think that it is effective to broadcast this cry with a speaker to send away crows.
