ナンテン heavenly bamboo

両方ともナンテンの木と思い撮影しましたが、改めて見直すと、1枚目は低木で横に広がっているので、別の木かも知れません。幹を見るなり、もう少し注意深く観察する必要がありそうです。

When I took these photos, I thought two trees were heavenly bamboo. Later, reviewing the photos, I suppose that the first tree may not be heavenly bamboo, because it is low and wide. It seems to be necessary to observe objects a little more carefully.  For example, I should watch the trunk of the tree and so on.

マンリョウ Ardisia crenata

この冬は雨が少ないせいか、元気がなさそうです。

It doesn't seem to have spirit, because there is little rain in this winter.

桜の古木 old cherry tree

樹齢400年といわれる山桜の古木です。花が咲いていないのは寂しげですが、小枝は電気のスパークのように光っていました。

This is an old mountain-cherry tree said to be 400 years old. The tree looks bare without flowers, but the twigs are shining like electric sparks.

白狐 white fox

稲荷神社には、陶器製の白狐のミニチュアが沢山飾られていました。
白い狐は、神の使いですが、神そのものと思って、お参りする人も多いです。
稲荷信仰は、その宗教の原理を記述した聖典を持っていません。同様に、神道にも聖典がありません。稲荷信仰も神道も、私にはその本質がよく分かりません。
神官は教義について何も語りません。

A lot of miniatures of a white fox made from ceramics were displayed in an Inari Shrine.
The white fox is an errand of God, but, in a praying person, there are many people who think it is God itself. Inari faith doesn't have a sacred book and Shinto religion doesn't have it, too. I understand neither the entity of Inari faith, nor Shinto religion.
The priesthood doesn't talk anything about the entity.

セルが回らない starter does not work

写真撮影に出かけるとき、バイクのエンジンがかかかってくれません。バッテリーの電圧を調べてみると正常です。次に電圧を見ながら、スタートボタンを押すしてみると、電圧が一気に下がりました。これではスターターが作動するはずはありません。
一見すると元気そうですが、まったく根性なしであったということです。バッテリーの電圧は、無負荷で測定してもあまり意味がないことを知りました。

When I was going to go to take photographs, the engine of my motorcycle did not start. The battery voltage didn't have a problem. Then, while watching the voltage, I pushed the starting button. The voltage declined in a dash. The starter cannot work in this condition.
It seemed to be fine, but it had no guts. I realized that it makes no sense to check the voltage of a battery without a load.

落ち葉に霜 frost and dead leaves

自然が作り出した偶然の賜物です。

It is the unexpected gift which nature created.

向き direction

ある落ち葉が他とは異なり、縦に凍っているのを見て、日頃よく表現する方向の概念が、意外にも曖昧であることに気が付きました。
縦は、長手方向の意味も持っているので、例えば、滑走路の縦方向というと、横から見ている人にとっては、それは横方向になる訳です。

When I saw one dead leaf was frozen vertically unlike others, I realized unexpectedly that the concept of the words which refer to a direction which is usually used is vague.
The Japanese word "Tate" has the both meanings of a vertical direction and a longer direction. For example, when I say the "tate" direction of the runway, it means "Yoko" (opposite word of "Tate") to a person who watch it from the side.
