Big fruit of Japanese big-leaf magnolia is increasing redness.

カシワバアジサイの紅葉 oakleaf hydrangea turns autumn color

カシワバアジサイの紅葉は美しいです。葉は、まだ緑ですが、花から紅葉が始まりました。

The red autumn leaves of oakleaf hydrangeas are beautiful. The leaves are still green, but flowers started to turn to autumn color.

サギソウ egret flower

サギは、首を縮めて飛ぶので、首の部分にコブがあるように見えるます。その特徴は、サギソウに見られませんが、長い茎の上で羽を広げたように花が咲くので、鳥が飛んでいるように見えます。

Herons shrink their necks when they fly, so we can see the bulge on their necks. The feature is not seen in egret flowers, but the flowers bloom as if spreading their wings on a tip of long stem, so they look like birds flying.

ガマガエル toad

「どうしたんだい、がまくん。君、悲しそうだね。」
からだつきには、他を圧倒する迫力があります。でも、その丸みを帯びた腕と短く延びた指には、愛嬌を感じます。

"What is the matter, Toad? You are looking sad."
You have the looks to overwhelm other. But your round arms and short straight fingers are lovable.

暑い夏を乗り切る surviving hot summer

バラがこの暑さの中に咲いていました。気温がふさわしければ咲き続けますが、この暑さは許容範囲を超えているはずです。このまま秋まで咲き続けることができるのかも知れない。

Roses are blooming in this heat. They will continue to bloom if the temperature is appropriate, but this heat should be above the acceptable range. I suppose they may be continue to bloom until autumn.

四弘誓願 The four great vows

外は、台風の影響で変な天気です。
四弘誓願を読んでみました。たったの四行で構成された短い仏教の経典です。

It is weird weather outside due to the typhoon.
I read the four vast vows. It's the most shortest Buddhist sutra composed of just four lines.

衆生無辺誓願度
生き物は、あまた存在するが、そのすべてを救うことを誓います。
Creatures are countless, but I vow to enlighten them all.

煩悩無数誓願断
煩悩は尽きないが、すべてを断ち切ることを誓います。
Worldly desires are endless, but I vow to cut off them all.

法門無尽誓願学
真理は無数にあるが、そのすべてを学ぶことを誓います。
Truth is measureless, but I vow to learn them all.

仏道無上誓願成
仏の道は無上だが、成し遂げることを誓います。
Buddhahood is unsurpassed, but I vow to attain it.

「できないことを、やると言うな」と子供の頃に私は教育され、会社に入ると「できないと言うな」と叩き込まれ、そして、「できないことを、できると言う」のが政治家になる必要な条件と知りました。
あれ、仏教も政治と同じではないですか。理想にもえる面では同じですね。

I was taught when I was a child "don't say I can what I can't do",
When I entered the company, I was strongly told not to say "I can't" under any circumstances; (Never give up), and I realized that to say "I can do what I can't do" is a necessary credential for becoming a politician. Oh, Buddhism is same as politics. Both are the same in that they burn with enthusiasm.

カラスとコミュニケーション communication with crows

我が家の屋根には時々カラスが遊びに来ます。ゴルフボール大の石を持ってきたり、天窓のシールをつついたりと、いたずらをするのです。ある時、手や壁を叩きましたが、驚くこともなく、天窓の半透明のすりガラスを通して、こちらをうかがっています。

10年以上前のことですが、私の友達は、カラスが鳴き声でコミュニケーションを取ることを発見しました。鳴き声の連続する数に意味があるそうです。例えば、4回は危険、5回は逃げろとか。発表当時は、この説は、話題になり注目されましたが、今では、単に回数だけではないことが通説になっています。

ものは、試しと、カラスが我が家へ遊びに来た時、録音された5回の鳴き声をカラスに聞こえるように再生しました。すると、カラスは、直ぐに居なくなり、しばらくすると、遠方からカラスの鳴き声が聞こえました。
もし、効果が確認できれば、天窓の下に専用のスピーカを設置しようと思います。

Sometimes crows fly to my house roof, and play on there. They play pranks to bring stones and to peck the seal of skylight window.
On one ocasion, I hit my hands and wall, but they didn't surprise at the sound, and they looked into this side through the half-traslucent glass of the skylight window.

More than ten years ago, one of my friend discovered crows communicate each other using with the count of calls.
It seems that the each number of consecutive calls has particular meaning.
For example, the four times means danger and the five times escape.
At the time of the announcement, this theory became a hot topic and attracted attention, but now it is common that it is not just a number of times.

Let's have a try, when the crows flew to my house, I let them hear recorded five consecutive calls.
The crow immediately disappeared, and a little later I heard a crow calls from a distance.
If the effect is confirmed, I will install a dedicated speaker at the place.
