欲望に際限なし endless desires

おばあさんがイチョウの実を拾いながら、「今年は台風が来ない、台風が来るとイチョウの実がもっとたくさん落ちるのだが」と、つぶやきました。
これだけ、落ちていれば十分だと思うのですが。

While picking up ginkgo nuts, an old lady said, "No typhoon will come this year, but if a typhoon comes, more ginkgo nuts will fall."
I think it's enough, this much.

サンシュユ Japanese cornel

読みにくい名前だなと、いつも思います。
実が赤く色づいてきました。完熟すれば食べることができるそうです。

Japanese name (sansyuyu) is hard to read.
The fruits are turning red. They say that we can eat it after it is fully mature.

朝顔 morning glory

アサガオがまだ咲いていました。気のせいか色が抜けているように見えました。

The morning glory is still in bloom. It looks the color has a little disappeared, probably because of my imagination.

白粉花(オシロイバナ) marvel of Peru

オシロイバナは、交配が繰り返されると、中学生の時習ったメンデルの法則では説明できない花（萼）が咲きます。自然の神秘、本当に面白いですね。

After "marvel of Peru" repeat mating, the flower (calyx) not explained by the "Mendel's laws of inheritance" that I learned when I was in junior high school comes out. The mystery of nature is really interesting.

小紫式部(コムラサキシキブ) purple beautyberry

コムラサキシキブの紫色の実は、よく目立ちます。鳥に食べてもらい種を運んで貰うためでしょうか。

The Purple fruits of purple beautyberry really stand out. I suppose this is so that the seeds get eaten and carried by birds.

藤袴(フジバカマ) thoroughwort

フジバカマは、秋の七草の一つです。
小学校の頃に、どんな花かも知らずに、七草の名前を一生懸命暗記しました。
今では、七草のそれぞれ花と名前が一致しました。

秋の七草：萩、尾花(ススキ)、葛、撫子、オミナエシ、藤袴、桔梗

Thoroughwort is one of the seven autumn herbs.
When I was in elementary school, I tried hard to memorize the names of the seven herbs without knowing what kind of flowers they were.
Now I know each flowers and their names.

the autumn herbs : bush clover, Japanese pampas grass, kudzu, dianthus, patrinia scabiosaefolia, thoroughwort, balloon flower

白い彼岸花 white cluster amaryllis

白と言うには黄色っぽいですが、朱色の彼岸花と黄色の彼岸花を交配してできたものが、この白い彼岸花と言われています。

絵の具の混ぜ合わせと、遺伝子の交配による色の出方が異なるのは興味深いです。

It is said white cluster amaryllis but I think it is pale yellow. This cluster amaryllis is said to have been made by cross-fertilization of vermilion with yellow.
The difference in color produced by the mixture of paints and the result of genetic mating is interesting.
