シモツケとシモツケソウ simotuke & simotuke-sou

　名前も花もよく似ているので、混同しがちの花たちです。両方ともバラ科の植物ですが、シモツケは木ですが、シモツケソウは草です。どちらも背の高さは１ｍ位でそれほどかわりません。

　We tend to confuse these two flowers because their names and shapes are very similar. Both are plants of the Rosaceae family, but simotuke, or Japanese spirea, is a tree and simotuke-sou, or Filipendula multijuga, is a grass. Both heights are about 1m, there is not so different.

木苺(キイチゴ) bramble

　キイチゴを見つけたました。一粒だけ食べて満足しました。

　I found some brambles. I ate one grain and was satisfied.

白蝶草(ハクチョウソウ) Gaura

　それぞれの花はすぐに枯れますが、半年間ほど次々に咲き続けます。

　Each flower dies in a few days, but the flowers continue to bloom one after another for about half a year.

ヤマウルシ Japanese sumac (Toxicodendron trichocarpum)

　ヤマウルシは、紅葉すると赤やオレンジ色になりできれいですが、さわるとかぶれるので注意が必要です。

　葉は奇数羽状複葉と呼ばれる構成で、葉柄（ようへい）は赤味を帯びているのが普通です。この葉の形を覚えておきましょう。

　The leaves turn red or orange in autumn,  it's wonderful. However, if you touch it you will get rash, so you must be careful.

　The leaves are called odd pinnate compound leaves, and the petioles are usually reddish. Remember the shape of this leaf.

ユーレカ Eureka

　ユーレカ(Eureka)は、古代ギリシア語で「分かった」という感嘆詞です。

　アルキメデスは、金の純度の測定方法を思いついたときに、ユーレカ、ユーレカと2回叫んだと言われています。

　そのユーレカがどうしてこのバラの名前になったのでしょう。私は、ユーレカと叫ぶことはできません。

　Eureka is an interjection of "understood" in ancient Greek.

　Archimedes allegedly shouted Eureka! and Eureka! twice when he found a method for measuring the purity of gold.

　I can't imagine why Eureka is the name of this rose. I can't shout Eureka!

カクテル(半つるバラ、シュラブ) cocktail(Shrub)

　今シーズンは、花数が少くなく残念です。それでも、花の中心は黄色く回りは鮮烈な赤色のカクテルは存在感があります。

　It is unfortunate that there are few flowers in this season. Even so, the center of the flower is yellow and the surrounding areas are bright red, so it has a strong presence.

サイレンス・イズ・ゴールデン(つるバラ) silence is golden(CL)

　パンデミックのこの時代の標語になりそうな花の名前です。

　It is the name of a flower that could be the slogan in the middle of pandemics.
