藤(フジ) wisteria

　花序の上から開花を始めています。花の紫に若葉の青さが彩りを加えています。

　The top of the inflorescences is where the flowers are starting to bloom. The young green leaves add a splash of color to the purple flowers.

モッコウバラ Banksweet rose

　小さな花をたくさんつける、早咲きのモッコウバラです。花が密に咲くので、見頃になると、株全体が花で覆わるているように見えます。

　This is a Banksweet rose that blooms early and produces a lot of small flowers. When the flowers are in full bloom, the tree looks like it's completely covered in flowers due to their dense blooming.

草苺(クサイチゴ) rubus hirsutus

　クサイチゴには、赤い小さな実が成ります。その実は、甘くて美味しいと聞きますが、食べたことはありません。

　The Rubus hirsutus bears small red berries. I've heard that it's sweet and delicious, but I've not tried it.

里桜(サトザクラ) Sato Zakura

　サトザクラは、オオシマザクラを親として交配された品種の総称です。ソメイヨシノもオオシマザクラとエドヒガンザクラの交配種ですから、サトザクラといえます。
　サトザクラの多くは、遅咲きで八重咲きになる種類が多いので、単に八重桜（ヤエザクラ）とも呼ばれます。ただし、八重咲きのサクラがすべてサトザクラではありません。
　名前のことはともかく、桜の美しさを楽しみましょう。

　Sato Zakura is a general term for varieties created by crossbreeding Oshima Zakura as a parent. Somei Yoshino is also a hybrid of Oshima Zakura and Edo Higan, so it can also be called Sato Zakura.
　Many Sato Zakura varieties are late-blooming and double-flowered cherry trees. Therefore Sato Zakura is called simply as Yae Zakura (double cherry blossoms). However, all Yae Zakura are not Sato Zakura.
　Setting aside the name, let's enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms.

ツツジ azalea

　ツツジが咲き始めました。ツツジにしては小ぶりの花で、雄しべは５本です。サツキではないかと疑問が湧きますが、開花時期と葉に光沢がないので、ツツジとしました。
　英語では、ツツジもサツキも同じ名前のアザレアです。

　The blooming of "tutuji", or azalea in English, has begun. The flowers are small in size for a "tutuji" and have five stamens. I wondered if it might be "satuki", or azalea in English, but because of the flowering time and the lack of shine in the leaves, I decided it was "tutuji."
　In English, "tutuji" and "satuki" are both called azaleas.

　留め具のベースに彫られた模様は何だろう。植物の葉と実が彫られているように見えます。いろいろ考えた挙げ句、琵琶ではないかと思いました。

　What is the pattern engraved on the base plate of the clasp? It appears that the leaves and fruits of the plant have been carved onto it. After much consideration, I concluded that it was probably biwas in Japanese, or loquats in English.
