ヌルデは秋の紅葉も美しいですが、若い葉の色も赤く趣があります。若葉のこの色は紫外線から身を守るためだと思います。多くのバラと同じですね。
It looks like a sumac, but this is a Rhus javanica because a rachis has wings. I get a rash from a sumac, but I have not got a rash from a Rhus javanica until now.
As for the Rhus javanica, the autumn colored leaves are beautiful, and the red color of a young leaf is tasteful too. I think that young leaf is protecting itself from ultraviolet rays. It is the same as many kinds roses.
