花 cherry blossoms

単に花といえば、今では桜の花を指しますが、奈良時代まで遡ると、梅の花でした。ところが平安時代になると、梅から次第に桜に代わっていました。なぜ、日本人の好みが、梅から桜に代わったのでしょう。
奈良時代には、中国といえば、文化伝来の地でした。梅も中国から伝わったものです。当時の貴族が、新しい文化とともに、梅をも珍重したのでしょう。
その後、遣唐使も廃止され、日本独自の文化が熟成され、風土/精神に合う桜が見直されるようになったのでは思います。

In Japan, to simply say flower means cherry blossoms. But in the Nara era, it was plum blossoms, not as cherry blossoms. However, in the Heian period it came to meant cherry blossom along with the increasing popularity of cherry blossoms. Why would the Japanese liking have changed from plum blossoms to cherry blossoms?
In the Nara era, China was the country which transferred culture to Japan. The plum tree was introduced from China, too. The nobles of the time would prize the plum tree highly.
Later, the Japanese envoy to China was abolished, and the Japanese original culture begun to matured. So I think that a cherry tree fitting to Japanese culture and mentality came to be reevaluated.

ヤグルマギク cornflower

この花の名前は、ヤグルマソウと教えられましたが、最近はヤグルマギクと呼ばれています。
ヤグルマソウと呼ばれる、別の植物が存在します。分類が整理されてきたのでしょう。

I was taught that this flower was a Rodger's bronze leaf. But it is called a cornflower recently.
There is other plant named the Rodger's bronze leaf. It seems that a classification has been arranged.

途方に暮れて wit's end

山吹の新芽ですが、なんだか照れているのか、途方に暮れているか・・・

It is a sprout of the Japanese mountain rose. I do not know whether it is embarrassed or at a loss.

道端芸術 roadside art

道端にいくつかの彫刻が転がっていました。誰かが何かをやろうとしていたか分かりませんが、途中で断念したのでしょう。

Some sculptures were kicked out to the roadside.  I wonder if someone attempted to do something, but maybe the person gave it up on the way.

ヒメオドリコソウ red deadnettle

外来種。野原でどんどん増殖しています。下の葉ほど大きく張り出しているので、陽の光を有効に受け止めているようです。

A naturalized species. This plants increase steadily in fields. As lower leaf is wider than upper leaf, they seem to catch sunlight effectively.

雨のち晴れ rain, later sunny

ここには、自生のカタクリが沢山咲いています。夕方でもあり、ほとんどの花は閉じていましたが、中には咲いている花も少しありました。
この写真は、遊歩道の柵に寄りかかって撮影しました。柵には黒カビが生えていたので、上着に着いてしまいました。

Wild Japanese dog's tooth violets bloom many here. Because it was also the evening, most flowers were closed, but there were some flowers bloomed among them.
I leaned on a fence of a promenade and photographed the flowers. There were black mold on the fence, so they contaminated my jacket.

フサザクラ Eupteleaceae

花弁がなく、赤い雄しべが房のようになっています。満開になると、雄しべが垂れ下がり、黄色い花粉が沢山こぼれてきます。

This flower does not have a petal, and a red stamen becomes like a bunch. A stamen hangs down when it becomes in full blossom, and a lot of yellow pollen spills.
