ジュノー Juno

NASAの木星探査機であるJunoが、地球スイングバイ方式での加速により、木星軌道に乗ったことだけでも驚きですが、木星の軌道上を周回しながら観測を続けており、予想外のことがいろいろ分かってきたことは驚嘆に値します。
役目を終えたジュノーは、10月に木星に突入します。観測データの解析は来年になりますが、結果が楽しみです。

I was amazed to see that Juno which is Jupiter space probe of NASA got on the orbit of the Jupiter by the earth swing-by method (gravity assist speed boost from Earth). Furthermore Juno has been going around orbit of Jupiter and continues observing the planet. And it deserves praise that Juno discovers many things which we do not imagine.
Juno finished duty in October and is to fall into the Jupiter. The analysis of observation data continues until the next year, but I am looking forward to the result.

ハブランサス pink rain lily

この花を見た時に、最初はサフランモドキかと思いましたが、横を向いて咲いているのでハブランサスでしょう。サフランモドキは、上を向いて咲きます。咲く向きによって、花を見分けることは興味深いです。

When I looked at this flower, I thought that this flower was a Zephyranthes carinata, but I concluded this flower was a pink rain lily, because this flower bloomed horizontally. The Zephyranthes carinata blooms upward. It is interesting to distinguish the kind of flower by the direction where the flower blooms.

蜜の味 taste of honey

ミツバチが活動する時期になりました。ポピーの蜜はどんな味でしょうか。

It is the time when a bee is active. I wonder what kind of taste the honey of the poppy is.

ナツツバキ stewartia

花の形がツバキと似ているので、夏ツバキと呼ばれますが、どちらかと言うとサザンカに似ているように思います。

This tree is called a summer camellia, because the form of the flower resembles a flower of a camellia, but I think that the flower rather resembles a sasanqua.

ガウラ gaura

長い茎が風に揺れると、白い蝶が飛んでいるいるように見えることから、白蝶草とも呼ばれます。園芸品種として作られた、ピンクや赤色の花もあります。

When a long stem gently swings for wind, the flower looks like butterfly flying. So it is called the white butterfly grass.
Pink flowers and red flowers have been made as a cultivated variety.

アジサイ、プファウ Hydrangea macrophylla Pfau

白い覆輪が上品さを醸し出しています。

A white ornamental border creates an aura of elegance.

ネコノヒゲ cat's whiskers

長く伸びたしべが、ネコのヒゲに似ています。多年草ですが、寒さに弱いので日本で越冬するのは難しいようです。

The long stamen looks like the whiskers of a cat. It is perennial plant, but it seems to be difficult to pass the winter in Japan because this grass is sensitive to cold.
