カラスとコミュニケーション communication with crows

我が家の屋根には時々カラスが遊びに来ます。ゴルフボール大の石を持ってきたり、天窓のシールをつついたりと、いたずらをするのです。ある時、手や壁を叩きましたが、驚くこともなく、天窓の半透明のすりガラスを通して、こちらをうかがっています。

10年以上前のことですが、私の友達は、カラスが鳴き声でコミュニケーションを取ることを発見しました。鳴き声の連続する数に意味があるそうです。例えば、4回は危険、5回は逃げろとか。発表当時は、この説は、話題になり注目されましたが、今では、単に回数だけではないことが通説になっています。

ものは、試しと、カラスが我が家へ遊びに来た時、録音された5回の鳴き声をカラスに聞こえるように再生しました。すると、カラスは、直ぐに居なくなり、しばらくすると、遠方からカラスの鳴き声が聞こえました。
もし、効果が確認できれば、天窓の下に専用のスピーカを設置しようと思います。

Sometimes crows fly to my house roof, and play on there. They play pranks to bring stones and to peck the seal of skylight window.
On one ocasion, I hit my hands and wall, but they didn't surprise at the sound, and they looked into this side through the half-traslucent glass of the skylight window.

More than ten years ago, one of my friend discovered crows communicate each other using with the count of calls.
It seems that the each number of consecutive calls has particular meaning.
For example, the four times means danger and the five times escape.
At the time of the announcement, this theory became a hot topic and attracted attention, but now it is common that it is not just a number of times.

Let's have a try, when the crows flew to my house, I let them hear recorded five consecutive calls.
The crow immediately disappeared, and a little later I heard a crow calls from a distance.
If the effect is confirmed, I will install a dedicated speaker at the place.

クサボケ（草木瓜） Japanese quince

普通のボケのように背が高くならず、横に広がるクサボケがあることを知りました。実はどちらも固くて、ヤマモモに似た特殊な香りがします。

I learned that there is a Japanese quince that spreads to the side, not as tall as ordinary flowering quince. Both fruits are hard and have a special scent similar to red bayberry.

玉虫色 iridescence

バルコニーに、玉虫が仰向けにころがっていました。草むらにいれば良いものを。

A jewel beetle lay down on its back on a balcony. I wish it should have been in the grass.

ヒマワリと雲と both sunflower and cloud

夏空に映えるヒマワリです。これは、小ぶりのサンフィニティという品種です。
ヒマワリと雲の2つを欲張ったので、明暗の階調が乏しい元気のない写真になりました。

A sunflower goes well with the summer sky. This is a cultivar called Sanfinity which bears relatively small flowers.
I was greedy with both sunflowers and clouds, so the photo became dull with poor gradation of light and darkness.

サイクロン集塵機 cyclonic separation

ジェームス・ダイソンJames Dysonは、掃除機にサイクロン装置を組み込みゴミの目詰まりを大幅に改善しました。そのサイクロンの組み込みに、ダリアの花がヒントになったのではないかと、密かに思っています。

James Dyson has embedded a cyclone device into the vacuum cleaner, which has greatly improved the clogging of the dust. I suppose secretly that the dahlia flower petals became a hint for the cyclones layout.

最後のテッセン survived clematis

こんなに気温が高くなりましたが、日陰で咲き続けたテッセンです。

Although the temperature has become so high, but the flowers of clematis continued to bloom in the shade.

タイサンボクの実 fruit of southern magnolia

大きな花が咲いたあとに、実がなりますが、熟す前になぜか根本から折れるものが多く、地面には落下した未熟な実が散乱します。軸は、水平方向のみ容易に折れる構造です。種の選択が働くのでしょうか。

After large flowers bloom, the fruits grow, but before ripening, the axes of many unripe fruits broken at the base, and the fruits fall on the ground and scattered. The axis has a structure that easily broken in the horizontal direction. I wonder if the species selection is undertaken.
