茗荷(ミョウガ) Japanese Ginger

　ミョウガの草をかき分けたら、薄暗いところに妖しく花が咲いていました。

　When I pushed aside the grasses of Japanese Ginger, the flowers were blooming mysteriously in the dark.

ヤモリ Japanese gecko

　今年もまた、夜になるとヤモリとが現れ、窓の明かりによってくる虫を待ち構えます。

　Every summer, Japanese geckos appear at night and wait for bugs that come to the light  windows.

アメリカオニアザミ spear thistle

　アメリカオニアザミの繊細な冠毛が、炎天下に輝いていました。暑さを一時忘れることができました。

　The delicate hairs of spear thistle glistened under the scorching sun. I could forget the heat for a while.

卵茸(タマゴタケ) Amanita caesareoides

　根本に卵の殻のようなツボが残っているので、これはタマゴタケのようです。タマゴタケは、美味しいといわれる食用キノコですが、キノコの判別は素人には難しいので、食べないほうがよさそうです。

　It looks like a Amanita caesareoides because it has eggshell-like pots at the base. It is an edible mushroom that is said to be delicious, but it is difficult for amateurs to distinguish whether it is edible or not, so it seems better not to eat it.

カリブラコア Calibrachoa

　撮影するときには、花はもっと密に咲いていた印象でした。全体の一部として見るか、切り取って見るかで印象が変わるのかも知れません。

　Before taking this photo, I felt the flowers were more dense. The impression may change according to whether I see it as a part of the whole or cut it out.

薮茗荷(ヤブミョウガ) Pollia japonica

　ヤブミョウガが小川のほとりに生えていました。湿った場所が好きなようです。我が家にはミョウガが生えていますが、両者で花は全く異なります。葉はよく似ていますが、ミョウガのほうが長いようです。ヤブミョウガは、ツユクサに分類され、ミョウガはショウガ科です。

　A bush ginger has been growing on the bank of a stream. They seem to like damp places. Japanese ginger grows in my garden, but the both flowers are completely different. The leaves are similar to each other, but Japanese ginger's leaves a little longer. Pollia japonica is classified as Commelinaceae, and Japanese ginger belongs to the Zingiberaceae family. Both plants are referred to as ginger in Japan.
