銭葵(ゼニアオイ) common mallow

　乾燥させたゼニアオイに熱湯をかけると、ブルー色のハーブティーが作れるそうです。身近に咲く花ですが、私はまだ試したことがありません。

　I heard that you can make blue herbal tea by pouring boiling water over dried common mallow. Although flowers are blooming nearby, I have not taken the opportunity to do so.

常磐満作(トキワマンサク) Loropetalum chinense

　トキワマンサクの葉の色は、緑葉と赤葉の2種類があります。この木は赤葉ですので、花の色がより強調され、ピンク色が満ち溢れました。

　There are two different colors of leaves for Loropetalum chinense: green and red. The red leaves of this tree enhance the color of the flowers, creating a gorgeous pink glow.

紫花菜(ムラサキハナナ) Chinese violet cress

　視界がひらけた先から、紫色が目に飛び込んできました。ムラサキハナナの群生です。

　As the view opened up, the violet color caught my eye. It was a colony of Chinese violet cress.

亜米利加風露(アメリカフウロ) carolina geranium

　綺麗に清掃されたコンクリートの割れ目から、アメリカフウロが芽を出し育っています。どこにでも見られる草ですが、ここでは見守れている気配も感じます。

　Carolina geranium are growing out of the cracks in the concrete that were neatly cleaned. It's a plant that can be found anywhere, but here it seems to be watched over.

鬱金桜(ウコンザクラ) ukon cherry blossom

　おや、こんなところにウコンザクラが咲いていました。遅咲きの八重咲きで、淡黄緑色の花を咲かせるのが特徴です。
　そばには、筍も生えていました。

　An "Ukon cherry blossom" blooms even in place like this. Late-blooming, double-flowered, pale yellow-green flowers are what make it unique.
　Nearby, there were also bamboo shoots growing.

シャガ Iris japonica

　シャガは、種子を作りません。地下茎が伸びて増えていきます。ソメイヨシノと同様にクローンです。動物のクローンは希少ですが、植物には以外に多くクローンが存在します。例えば、ヒガンバナやニホンズイセンも、分球で増えるクローンです。

　Iris japonica does not produce seeds. The underground stems extend and multiply. It is a clone, just like Somei Yoshino (cherry blossoms). Animal cloning is rare, but contrary to expectation, plant cloning is common. For example, red spider lilies and Japanese daffodils, or Narcissus tazetta var. chinensis, are clones that reproduce through the dividing bulb.

屋根方 pilot on the roof

　山車の屋根に乗る人は、巡行の際に電線や電柱、看板などを避けるため重要な役割を担っています。電線など抱えあげたりする姿を見ることもあり、大丈夫なのかと心配になります。
　どうやって屋根に登り降りするのかずっと疑問でしたが、屋根に出入り口があるのを見つけ、納得できました。

　The float's roof riders play a crucial role in avoiding overhead cables, utility poles, signs, and other obstacles during the parade. Occasionally, seeing them hold up wires causes me to worry about whether they are okay.
　I had been questioning how they got onto or off the roof, but I came across an entrance on the roof and it all made sense.
