サルスベリ crape myrtle

サルスベリの根本から、ひこばえが何本か真っ直ぐ上へ伸びていました。ひこばえとは、根本から新たに生えてくる芽です。樹木の種類によらず、ひこばえは成長が早く、真っ直ぐに伸びます。
成長の速さと直線性は関係があるかもしれません。

Some suckers stand straight from the root of this crape myrtle. A sucker is a new bud emerging from a base of a tree. Regardless of the kind of the tree, the sucker grows rapidly and stand straight.
I suppose the growth speed of the sucker is related to the straightness.

マタタビと猫 silver vine and cats

葉のついたマタタビの小枝を持ち帰り庭に置きましたが、近所の猫達はまったく興味を示しませんでした。

I brought a twig with some leaves in my house and put them in the garden. But the neighboring cats did not show interest in them at all.

タラノキ樹液 sap of Japanese angelica tree

タラノキから樹液がサンゴのような形に析出していました。口に含んでみましたが味も香りもなく、また溶けることもなくがっかりしました。

A Japanese angelica tree precipitated its sap in the form of a coral.
 I tried it, but it had no taste and fragrance and didn't melt in my mouth also. I was disappointed in the result.

クサギ Harlequin glory bower

花が咲きはじめました。今年はクサキで草木染めをして見ようと思っています。

オオカメノキ Viburnum furcatum

行きには気がつかなかったのですが、帰りに赤い実を見つけました。
人間の視野（左右）は、200度あると言われていますが、はっきり見えているのは意識した部分のみです。
この木は、多分オオカメノキです。

I didn't notice the red fruits on the way to a destination, but I found those on the way back.
It is said that we have the 200 degrees horizontal field of view, but we can see clearly only a part we are paying attention.
This tree may be a Viburnum furcatum.

無香料洗濯石鹸 fragrance-free laundry soap

今年は暑いので、スズメバチが例年より多く発生しています。野山を歩いているとスズメバチにまつわりつかれ、怖い思いをすることが多いです。
スズメバチは、甘い香料や黒色に反応すると云われているので、無香料の洗濯石鹸で洗った、明るい色の服を着て、フィールドに出るようにしました。
その効果は明確ではありませんが、以前ほどスズメバチは、私に関心を示さなくなったようです。でも、油断は禁物です。
慣れると分からなくなりますが、香料入りの洗剤の匂いは相当強いです。

There are a lot of hornets in the field than usual, because it's very hot this summer. A hornet often makes a circle around me when I walk in fields, so I feel scary.
Both sweet fragrance and a black-color will excite a hornet, so when I go out to the fields, I wear clothes in the bright color washed with a fragrance-free laundry soap by habit.
The effect is not clear, but a hornet doesn't seem to have interest to me like before. I can't relax yet.
The ordinary laundry soap contains a strong-smelling substance. We don't notice the smell, if we get used to it.

ギボウシ plantain lily

ちょっと撮りに来るのが遅かったです。基部の方の花は萎れています。
