 クマザサを覆うモミジも終わりを告げます。

エンドウ pea

 　エンドウのサヤは緑色ですが、暗い紫色のサヤのものもあります。それは、ツタンカーメンのエンドウと呼ばれます。

　ハワード・カーターが、ツタンカーメンの墓を発掘したときに見つけた種が発芽して、世界に広がったそうです。

　小学生の頃、ハワード・カーターの発掘記を夢中になって読んだことがありますが、エンドウの話は書かれていませんでした。

　似たような話で、古代蓮の話もありますが、何千年も昔の種が発芽するなんてことがあるのでしょうか。

　でも、素直に信じておいたほうが、ファンタジーの世界に浸れて幸せです。

The pea pods are green, but there is a variety with dark purple pods. It is called Tutankhamun pea.

　The seeds that Howard Carter found when excavating Tutankhamun's tomb are said to have germinated. And it is said that it has spread all over the world as Tutankhamen peas.

　When I was in elementary school, I was absorbed in reading Howard Carter's excavation record, but there was no pea seed story in it.

　It would be amazing if thousands of years old seeds truly germinate.

　However, if I believe in that, I will be happy to be immersed in the fantasy world.

ナンテンにモミジ maple & heavenly bamboo

　両者、赤色を競っているようです。

　They appear to be copeting in red.

山茶花(サザンカ) sasanqua

　サザンカは、日本の固有種です。椿と似ていますが、葉は厚く、縁にはギザギザがあります。また、散るときは、花首からぼとりと落ちる椿とは異なり、花びらが一枚ずつ散ります。

　Sasanqua is endemic to Japan. It resembles a camellia, but has thick leaves and jagged edges. Sasanqua petal falls one by one, unlike the camellia which falls the whole flower at once.

紫御殿(ムラサキゴテン) purple heart

 　紫色の長楕円形の葉が印象的です。なんで御殿という名前がついたのでしょう。

　The purple oblong leaves are impressive. This flower's Japanese name means the purple palace. I want to know why this is called palace. 

タラノキ(三度目) aralia elata(third time)

 　花も終わり、黒い小さな実がなりました。樹液が沢山出るので、アブラムシやらゴミなど付着しているので汚いです。実は甘いそうですが、とても味見する気にはなりません。でも、珍しいタラノキの花も実も見ることができたのは、ラッキーでした。

　The flowering season is over and the tree bears small black berries. A lot of sap comes out, so aphids and dust are attached, and the branch was dirty. They say the fruit is sweet, but I didn't feel like tasting it. However, I was lucky to have the first opportunity to to see the flowers and fruits of Aralia elata.

豊富な品種のダリア wide variety of dahlia

 　ダリアには豊富な品種があり、花の色や咲き方、大きさなどさまざまです。そのどれにも、存在感があります。

　There are wide variety of dahlia. These flowers come in all colors, shapes and sizes. All of them have a strong presence.
