蝋梅(ロウバイ) Japanese allspice

　本来、香りの強い花ですが、あまり匂いは感じられませんでした。COVID-19に感染しているわけではありません。

　It's supposed to be a flower with a strong scent, but I didn't feel much scent.I believe I am not infected by COVID-19.

五色南天(ゴシキナンテン) Nandina domestica ‘Gosikinanten’

　背が高くならないナンテンなので、グランドカバーに適します。この木には、実はならないようです。

　It is a type of nandina that does not grow tall, so it is suitable for ground cover plants. It doesn't seem to bear fruit.

冬の桐 winter paulownia

蕾のついた枝が、揃って上に向かいます。

Every twig with buds points upwards.

冬の晴天続き clear weather continues in winter

晴天続きで、干上がった小さな用水地の底に、ひび割れ模様ができました。

Crack patterns were formed on the bottom of a small dry up pond, as clear weather continued.

ツルに赤い実 red berries on a vine

木に絡みつたツルに、赤い実が残っていました。ツルウメモドキでしょうか。

Red berries remained on a vine twined around a tree. Maybe it's a Japanese bittersweet.

秋冬山水図（しゅうとうさんすいず）Landscapes of Autumn and Winter

　画面下部は、違和感のない風景画ですが、中央から山の稜線のような力強い線が伸び始め、やがては天に向かって垂直の伸びていきます。その右は峻厳たる岩肌のようであり、左は柔らかい遠景の山の風景のようにも思えます。一体全体、なんなんでしょう。初めてこの絵を見たとき、この理解できない表現に強い衝撃を受けました。

　画面の下半分は現実の世界、上半分は非現実世界の抽象画と理解して、やっと納得できました。自由な着想の雪舟に完全にのせられていました。

　The lower part of this painting is a landscape without strange feeling, but a powerful line like the ridge of a mountain begins to grow from the center, and eventually extends vertically toward the sky. The right side looks like a steep rock surface, and the left side could be a soft distant mountain landscape. What on earth is this?

　When I was a junior high school student, I saw this painting for the first time, and I was shocked by this expression which I couldn't interpret.

　If I think of the lower half as the real world and the upper half as the abstract world, it makes sense. I played into the hand of Sessyu who had a free idea.

だるま市 Daruma market

　COVID-19が蔓延する中、例年通りだるま市が開かれていたのは驚きです。

　It is surprising that the Daruma Market was held as usual while COVID-19 was widespread.

　Both eyes of Daruma at the time of purchase are blank white. The purchaser makes a wish and paints on the left eye of the doll. When the wish comes true, he/she paints the right eye.

　People return the used dolls to the temple and have them burned with gratitude. It is a ceremony held just after the New Year.
