ニホンカモシカ Japanese serow

　散歩をしているとニホンカモシカの親子が現れました。特別天然記念物に指定されていますが、現在では絶滅の恐れはなくなり、相当数生息していると思われます。

　斜面での移動が得意で、高低差のあるところでは、人がかなり近づいても逃げるどころか、好奇心をしめす様子です。

　When I was walking along the mountain wake, I met a Japanese serow parent and child by chance. Although it has been designated as a protected species, it is not currently in danger of extinction, and is thought to have a good number of inhabitants.

　They are good at moving on slopes, and there, they show curiosity instead of running away even if people get closer.

向日葵(ヒマワリ) sunflower

　今日は、秋の気配を感じる気持ちの良い日になりました。

　近づいて見ると、ヒマワリの花は多数の小さな花が集まって、1つの大きな花になっているのがわかります。

　Today is comfortable weather with signs of fall. 

　If you look closely at s sunflower, you can see that it is made up of many small flowers that make up one large flower.

息をするのを忘れる forget the breathe

　 小さな被写体をクローズアップで撮影する際、マニュアル操作のピント合わせに夢中になり、息をするのを忘れて慌てることがあります。

　バイオリニストの高松あいさんも、パガニーニの超絶技巧の演奏中に、超難関部分を抜けてホッとした時、息をするのを忘れることがあるとおっしゃっていました。

　息を飲むという表現は、聞くことがありますが、息を忘れるはほとんど聞きませんね。

　When taking a close-up shot of a small subject, I get so caught up in manual focusing, I sometimes forget to breathe and get flustered.

　Violinist Ai Takamatsu also said that she sometimes forgets to breathe when she feels relieved after passing the super-tough part while performing Paganini's transcendent technique.

　We sometimes hear the expression "catch one's breath", but we almost never hear "forget to breathe".

　この家にはサボテン好きの人が住んでいるのでしょう。

　A cactus person probably lives in this house. 

古い窓ガラス old window glass

　霜が結晶したような模様の古い板ガラスです。左上のマス目のガラスは多分割れてしまったようです。もう同じものの入手は無理なんでしょう。

　It is an old plate glass with a pattern like crystallized frost. The glass in the upper left square seems to have been broken. The owner no longer appears to be able to obtain the same.

竜舌蘭(リュウゼツラン) century plant

　あちらこちらでリュウゼツランが咲いているとニュースで報じられました。もしかしたらと、近場のリュウゼツランを見に行きましたが、咲いていませんでした。

　リュウゼツランは、何十年もかけて成長したのち、1度だけ花を咲かせ、そして枯れてしまうそうです。

　The news has said that century plants are blooming here and there. I went to see the century plant in my neighborhood  with expectation, but it was not blooming.

 Century plants take decades of growth before blooming and die after the first blooming.

　花柱がどんどん伸びて、その先に花が咲くそうです。

　I heard that the flower stalks are getting longer and longer, and the flowers are blooming ahead of them.

　リラックスをしようと、音楽を聴いたことは今までなかったのですが、どういう訳か、リラックスできる音楽を探すことになりました。リラックスできることをうたった音楽をいろいろ聞きましたが、どれも目的に叶うものはありませんでした。最終的に、今日の気分では、エンヤの音楽がよいと結論付けました。

　彼女の音楽は、多重録音にエコーをかけていることに特徴があります。その音楽は、独特な荘厳な響きとなって心地のよいものです。そのように作られた曲ですからライブは無理で、録音された音楽でしか聞くことのできないものです。

　ユーチューブでエンヤの音楽を聴くことができます。

　I had never listened to music to relax, but for some unexplainable reason, I began to look for relaxing music. I've listened to a lot of music that promises to help me relax, but none of them have served my purpose. At the end, I found Enya's music to be good for my current mood.

　Her music is characterized by the use of overdubbing and echo techniques. The music has a unique solemn sound and is comfortable.  These are music that are made this way, so they are impossible to play live, they can only be listened with recorded music.
