枯れて散らずに残ったモミジの葉が、午後の陽にやさしく浮かび上がりました。

The leaves of Japanese maple that have not scattered gently float in the afternoon sun.

南天の杖 nandina cane

元日に、お寺で杖を配っていたので、1本いただきました。聞けば、材質は南天だそうです。
南天の幹は、真っ直ぐ伸びていますが、その肌はざらついており、強度もなさそうなので、南天で杖が作られるのかと疑問に思いました。考えて見れば、南天で作られた箸もあるので、材としては適当なのかも知れません。
南天は、縁起が良いので、この寺では、お正月に配るのでしょう。

さて、三が日も過ぎ、軽登山をするのに、この杖を持ち出しました。たまたま、向こうから来る人が同じ杖を持っていました。なんと、その人が杖をたくさん作り、お寺に寄進したそうです。
このような偶然には、なぜか心が和らぎます。

A temple was distributing canes to worshiper on the new year's day, so I received one. I heard that the material is a nandina.
The nandina trunk is straight, but its skin is rough and seems not strong enough, so I wondered if the canes were made from the nandina. Come to think of it, some chopsticks are made from the nandina, so it may be suitable as a material.
It is said that the nandina has good luck, so the temple distributed them.

Now, first three days of the New Year have passed, and I took this cane for hiking. As it happened, a person coming from the other side had the same type of cane. He said that he made a lot of the canes and donated temple them.
For such a coincidence, my heart softens for some reason.

♯ and ＃

西洋音楽記号の「シャープ」（♯：横棒が右上がり）と、「ハッシュ」（＃：横棒が水平）とが別物だということを、今日始めて知りました。単なるフォントデザインの違いだと認識していました。
最近、ハッシュタグという言葉をよく聞きますが、なんでシャープタグと言わないかと、不思議に思っていました。

電話機の＃ボタンは、横棒が水平なので「ハッシュ」のはずですが、音声案内では、「シャープ」を押してくださいと言っています。国民のほとんどが混同しているようです。

Today, I learned that Western music symbols "sharp" (♯: horizontal bar rises to the right) and "hash" (#: horizontal bar is horizontal) are different things. Until now, I recognized both as just font design differences.
Recently, I often hear the word hashtag, but I had been wondering why they wouldn't call it a sharp tag.

The # button on the phone should be "Hash" because the horizontal bar is horizontal, but the voice guidance says like as  "Press sharp button." Most of the people seem to be confused.
Today's topic was a Japanese domestic matter.

昨晩は雨。今朝、オールドレンズを通して草むらを覗くと、天然のイルミネーションが現れました。

It rained last night. When I looked at the grass through the old lens in this morning, natural illuminations emerged.
