小楢(コナラ) quercus serrata

　斜面に育つ幼樹の葉にカメラを構えたとき、危うく足を滑らせるところでした。

　地面には、細長いどんぐりが大量に落ちていたので、この木はどんぐりから発芽したコナラだと思います。

　When I looked at the leaves of the young tree growing on the slope and pointed the camera at it, I almost slipped. 

　There were a lot of slender acorns on the ground, so I think this is a quercus serrata sprouted from an acorn.

 

ツツジの新芽 azalea sprout

　新旧交代です。

　It's a change from the old to the new.

万両(マンリョウ) coral bush

　咲く花の少ないこの時期に、赤い実をつける植物は目立ちます。マンリョウとセンリョウはよく似た植物ですが、葉の下に実をつけるのがマンリョウ、上につけるのがセンリョウです。

　At this time of year when there are few plants flowering flowers, plants with red berries stand out. "Coral bush" and "sarcandra glabra" are very similar plants, but "coral bush" bears fruit under the leaves and  "sarcandra glabra" bears above them.

 

乾燥の季節 dry season

　モミジの葉も乾燥してパリパリです。

　Maple leaves also appear dry and crispy.

クロガネモチ ilex rotunda

　赤い実を沢山つけた様は圧巻です。

　This scenery of a lot of red fruits is stunning. 

　常緑広葉樹も葉を落としますが、新旧の葉が入れ替わるので、丸坊主になることはないはずです。何かストレスでも加わったのでしょうか。

　Evergreen trees also shed their leaves, but the old and new leaves are replaced, so there is no way for them to become bare. I suppose something has stressed this tree.

ゴンズイ euscaphis japonica

　実が熟すと割れて、中から黒い種が現れます。ちょっと不気味な感じがするゴンズイです。

　When the fruit ripens, it cracks and black seeds appear from inside. It is a  euscaphis japonica that makes me feel a little weird.

マルバウツギ fuzzy pride-of-Rochester

 　木の名前は知りませんが、その紅葉が里山の森の斜面で陽の光を浴びて輝いていました。光が当たって無ければ、気づきもせず通り過ぎたと思います。

　名前がわからないと、モヤモヤした気分になるのですが、ネットで、この木はマルバウツギだと教えていただきました。

　I don't know the name of the tree, but its autumn leaves were shining in sunlight on the slopes of woodland near a village. If the leaves had not been bathed in sunlight, I would unaware of the tree.

　If I can't identify the name, I feel uneasy. But I was told this tree is "fuzzy pride-of-Rochester" on the net.
