そういえば、畑の畦道に沿って、彼岸花が植えられている光景を思い出しました。彼岸花は毒草ですので、そのことを利用して、ネズミやモグラから作物を守るためだそうです。
ついでに桜の話題をもうひとつ。川沿いの土手に桜が植えられているのは、多くの人が花見に訪れて、土手を踏み固めるので、水害の防止になるそうです。江戸時代のお話です。
