花水木(ハナミズキ) dogwood

　大きく育ったハナミズキは、だいたいどれも樹形が整っているので、見ると心が落ち着きます。暗い灰色のその幹には、縦横に亀裂が走っているので、私にはトウモロコシの実のように見えます。
　花は上向きに咲くので、背が高く成長すると、見上げることになり、被写体にするには工夫が必要になります。
　英語名ではドッグウッドといいますが、その由来は樹皮を煎じたものが、犬のノミ退治に使われたからだそうです。

　Most of the large dogwood trees have a well-formed view, we feel balanced when we look at it. The dark gray trunk has cracks both vertically and horizontally,  so it seems like an ear of corn to me.
　Since the flowers bloom facing upwards, when the plant grows tall, we'll have to look up to see them, which requires some ingenuity to shoot photos.
　The name Dogwood in English is derived from the fact that it was used to kill fleas on dogs by decoctioning its bark.
