捩花(ネジバナ) Ladies' tresses

　芝生に生えたネジバナは、花径の高さが低いので、腹ばいになって写真を撮った記憶があります。ところが、この花は随分高くまで伸びていました。日当たりや水はけがよく、栄養分が豊富だったので、背が伸びたのでしょう。

　The flowering stem of Ladies' Tresses is quite short. I remember lying flat on my stomach to photograph them growing in the lawn. Conversely, this flower has reached considerable height. It probably reached such considerable height due to ample sunlight, efficient drainage, and rich nutrients.
