コトネアスター cotoneaster

　白色の小さな花が、足元で沢山咲いています。コトネアスターは、直径1cm未満の5弁の花を密集して咲かせます。雄しべが長く突き出し、先端にある赤色をした葯（花粉を作る器官）が目を引きます。そして、葉には皮のような質感があります。コトネアスターは、地を這うように成長するので、グランドカバーに適した植物です。

　There are many small white flowers growing at my feet. Cotoneaster produces a lot of five-petaled flowers, each of which is less than 1 cm in diameter. The stamens protrude long, and the red anthers  (the pollen-producing part)  at their ends are eye-catching. And there is a leathery texture in the leaves. Because it creeps along the ground, Cotoneaster is a good choice for ground cover.
