アマリリス amaryllis

　アマリリスと聞けば、花より同名の童謡の方が、圧倒的に思い浮かびます。フランス民謡のアマリリスが、日本に1947年頃に伝わり、学校で歌われるようになりました。花を見ることなく、繰り返し歌うことにより、アマリリスという名前とメロディーだけが、脳内に刷り込まれまれたからと思われます。
　今ではこの曲は、もう学校で歌われていないと思います。

　When I hear the word 'Amaryllis', the children's song of the same name comes to my mind much more than the flower. The French folk song Amaryllis was introduced to Japan around 1947 and sung in schools. It must be due to, without ever seeing the flower, the name "Amaryllis" and the melody were imprinted in my mind through repeated singing.
　I think the song is no longer taught in schools in Japan.
