丸葉縷紅(マルバルコウ) red morning glory

　小さく愛らしい花ですが、畑に侵入すると、作物に絡みつき成長を阻害するなど厄介な雑草です。江戸時代に観賞用として、移入されましたが、今では警戒すべき帰化雑草に分類されています。マルバルコウにとっては、翻弄された気分かもしれません。

　Although Red Morning Glory is small and charming flowers, they are troublesome weeds that invade fields, entangling crops and hindering their growth. It was introduced during the Edo period as an ornamental plant, but is now classified as an invasive weed that requires vigilance. They may feel as if they’ve been at the mercy of the era.
